This company called to solicit my business for what the caller called medical insurance. I have many health problems, am uninsured, so the first thing I asked was if there is a preexisting condition clause. I was told there was none, and that I would immediately be effective on that day. I was also told this was a PPO plan and I could use it as often as needed.

When I got the plan brochure, I immediately noticed there IS a 12 MONTH PREEXISTING CONDITION CLAUSE. I also found that you could only use this "plan" to see a doctor 5 VISITS PER YEAR! They also have a bunch of other "discounts" available.

I called to cancel the day I got the brochure. Was told by Allison, the manager of the broker's office that I needed to call IAB. She then proceded to try to bait and switch me to another, even more worthless plan stating that it DOESN'T HAVE A PREEXISTING CONDITION CLAUSE. When I lookd this one up, I could only see a doctor 4 TIMES PER YEAR, AND THE PREMIUM WAS $30 MORE A MONTH!!

Well, I faxed a request for cancellation on the basis of the solicitor's lies, and DID get $100 of my $239.90 back. I am continuing the fight for the rest of it as I was out-and-out lied to in order for someone to make a sale. Being desperate for health insurance blindsided me to the truth of what was really being done and I should have told them to send info first, then maybe I'd buy this thing.

I am filing with the Texas Insurance Commision, have filed with the Oregon Insurance Commision. Oregon couldn't help me due to our laws having this "loophole" which they're trying to fix. I also was advised to contact the Department of Justice, so I will be doing that as well.

If these people call you HANG UP because you will waste your time and they WILL try to scam you!!!

#7 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Don't blame IAB

AUTHOR: Previous Employee - (U.S.A.)

I do not think it's IAB, IAB seems real legit. Its just this one office of IAB that I happened to come across and work at. I do know Debra who is psychotic and David who is Debra's son. He is the only employee that she can keep because of the fact that she lies when she hires you. I was hired on with about 4 other employee's and well we all left at the same time because she lied to us about our pay. To this day none of us that I know of have received our last pay checks. She does lie to clients and they have changed thier name many times for the company. It is no longer what you had mentioned. I feel for you, this really seems like a great program for those who want something "just in case", and for those who cannot afford regular insurance for thier families However... I do not feel she should have misrepresented the company. I am sorry this happened to you and I really hope that in the future this does not happen.

Pre-Existing conditons

AUTHOR: Randall - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, June 10, 2007

Most insurance has pre-exisiting conditions clause to protect them from people who get sick then enroll then use the insurance and then cancel.

IAB uses Fairmont Speciality for its insured portion of thier plans.

You can get better rates and coverages if you look around more.

if you need help Iam a lic'd insurance agent and would love to help you out.

sorry you were mis-led

WILL WONDERS NEVER CEASE!!??

AUTHOR: Kathy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, January 04, 2005

I fired off another epmail to IAB on 1/2/05, demanding full refund as I'd only seen my first $100 come back. They replied today stating they had refunded the other $139 on 12/21/04. Checked my banking records, and low and behold on 12/23/04 the other $139 miraculously appeared!!! TRuly amazing what a bunch of complaining and reporting to the world on this scurrulous company will do!
I'm really pleased to find Ripoff Report and am recommending you to anyone who has been taken in by fraud! Consumers need more help like this - keep up the awesome work!!!

IAB TEXAS STILL RIPPING ME OFF!!

AUTHOR: Kathy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, January 02, 2005

I sent an email to these people in addition to faxing a request for cancellation and to get my $239.90 back. I got a response from someone named Darlene saying tehy got my request and didn't even go into why they only sent the $100. I did tell them I have reported to the UD Deparment of Justice and am looking into anyone else I can report their fraudulent practices to. If everyon who has been ripped-off by this company did this, perhaps we could stop them. If we could even slow them down it would help!!

I'll keep you posted as to what thwir response will be. Please everybody, don't take the easy road and just ignore anyone who has ripped you off like this company did to me and many others. I think getting them to refund the money IS POSSSIBLE and I will keep trying until I see that other $139.90 safely credited to my account.
