I was trying to make a return of two pillows to Round Rock Ikea and could not find my receipt. I was told that a courtesy return could be done if no other similar return had been done. I had made this type of return before so my return was denied. I understand this policy and had no trouble with it. I did mention that I had a defective item at home I needed to return so would find the receipt and bring the items back.

I was told that all items needed to be returned in unopened packaging with receipt or no return could be made. I wanted clarification of the return policy and asked for the manager. His name is Jeff, and he repeated the policy the same way, items could only be returned in unopened packaging with receipts even if the item was defective. This is not what the policy posted in the store said. He told me that Ikea offers "affordable quality" items and sometimes they were defective.

No returns with a reciept. Pretty standard.

Defective item? Not the store's fault, you should be contacting the manufacturer about the defect, not the store.

Store are allowed to set their refund policy. Their refund policy could be "no refunds, no exceptions"

Check and see what warranty is available on your item and contact the manufacturer about this item.
