I rec'd an email from IMVU this past Sun indicating that I requested to change the email address on my account and that if this wasnt done by me I needed to click a link to set my email BACK to what it was and reset my password. To make a long story short, I never made the request, I did exactly as they stated and additionally filed a help ticket stating all the above and the fact that I sincerely hoped they did not allow this person to access or withdraw funds from my account PRIOR to verifying that I made the change.

Imvu responded by telling me that if I didnt give out my password I would NEVER be hacked. They finally gave me back access to my account and asked me give details of any transactions that occured.

I responded as follows :

Please dont say that if u dont give out ur password u will never be hacked as we both know this is not true. Im not the first person to be hacked on this site and I never give out my password to anyone. The site should not allow credits to be trans until the address change is verified. And I certainly cant trans out over 2 million credits in one day. Someone much more computer savvy than me knows how to get inside ur system and do as they please. Here is the info u requested.... I concluded with the requested info showing that 3 million credits (approx $1380) had been removed from my account in mere mins.

I got the following response :

Hi XXXXXXXX, We were only able to retrieve 114273 credits back to your account, however, we have taken action against the user who hacked your account. Unfortunately, we do not grant credits in these types of situations. Your account security is your responsibility. Remember to never share your password with anyone and you will never get hacked. Please let me know if you have further questions. Regards, Cathy IMVU, Inc. Customer Care and Education

Lol, they found the person that hacked my account, refuse to share the info with me and refuse to reimburse me for the credits. This company makes MILLIONS. They know I didnt take the credits out but im supposed to be responsible for whoever can hack into their site. I looked up hacking on IMVU on the internet and and got several pages and a listing of VIDEOS showing how to do it.

This site is a ripoff at every turn. Ive fought with them before about their unfair practices and got my Attorney Generals office involved. The situation involved getting back my disabled account and was satisfactorily resolved. Now this.....Ive filed yet another report against them and am done with developing on the site. Which is the reason i had such a large balance to begin with. That and the fact that its become practically impossible to sell the credits in a timely manner. Or at least not as fast as I was making them.

The account that had the credits wasnt even the account I develop under. I purposely trans my credits daily bcos I was afraid of being hacked as a known developer with a good income. Since the credits, under an account thats relatively unknown PERIOD, were found also indicates the hacker had a way of finding it probably by the balance alone. In any event I think that the fact that they want to make me responsible and refuse to return close to 3 million CREDITS (which THEY manufacture) is utterly ridiculous.

This site has NUMEROUS problems and most people only stay on bcos of all the money and time that theyve invested. And altho I will no longer develop again I will still earn credits. But they are worthless as at anytime people can circumvent imvus security and just take watever they want. And the company makes sure they are not responsibility for anything!

DO NOT GET INVOLVED WITH IMVU!
