My wife and I signed up with JK harris in October of 2006. We were told that we would get an OIC, no problem. We sent the usual documents to JK Harris so they could get the ball rolling. We learned in January that we were not eligiable for an OIC due to our income. We re-filed our tax returns and wanted to work out a installment agreement with the IRS because we owed over 100K. My wife and I responded to every communication that the IRS sent to us during this daunting task. I kept on getting notices from the IRS about them needing updated information. The Power of Attorney was supposed to be negotiating with the IRS as we were told.

I happen to call the IRS the give them our information and come to find out that the P.O.A. had not been in communication with the IRS period. I immediately called JK Harris stating these facts and they were in denial.

In May we got a Notice Of Levy from the IRS. JK Harris had no knowledge of this so they say and our account got hit. JK Harris stated in July that in order to do an installment aggreemnet with the IRS that it would take over $11,000.00 per month. And that is what the IRS would accept period. I apprised them that they were supposed to be the pro's at negotiating with the IRS and help us out. JK Harris gets really indignent when you remind them of their statements and ad's.

Needless to say, I have since hired a tax attorney that has negotiated a deal for me on a monthly basis that I can live with. How about a fourth of what JK Harris was able to accomplish. This attorny took about 5 days to get this done.

I ahve continued to pay JK Harris the $500.00 per month because I did not want them to ever say I was in Breach Of Contract as the have been.

I have also file a formal complaint of DeciptiveTrade Practice's with the Federal Trade Commission in regards to JK Harris. If I can't get my money back them maybe they can be shut down!

Simply Amazing!

AUTHOR: Mike - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, March 13, 2008

I am glad that you are one of the lucky ones that have had a good experience. I would be curiuos though, if you had such a good experience and want people to be fair, what brought you to this site? What made you search? Are you somehow questionning your monies spent after finding such a large amount of complaints? As far as reading the back of the contract, it does state the services can be cancelled. We did. I have done the due dillegence of submitting a formal leter to JK Harris twice now in reference to a refund and why. To date, I still have not had a response from JK Harris.

I have forwarded those letters also to the FTC and SC Better Business Bureau as well. They got their monies for services not rendered, if you paid for a service and the service either was not complete or performed incorrectly; would you expect you money back? I would guess absolutly!
As far as sending my name to JK Harris? Go for it, they know!

Mike

Only one report in the state of Texas with the Better Business Bureau!

AUTHOR: Let's Be Fair - (U.S.A.)

I find it interesting that these people complain about a company that appears to have an outstanding status with the Better Business Bureau. In the HUGE state of Texas, there was only one complaint and Jk Harris handled it in a professional manor.

I see that one person who complained about being "Ripped Off" is giving advise on how to allegedly illegally sue JK Harris in court and get twice your money back.
I think I will send that person's name to them and see what happens??

Some people are "ripped off" due to not reading a contract before signing and others just don't listen well.

Response to JK Harris Employee (JB)

AUTHOR: Mike - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, October 17, 2007

While I find this an exercise in futility, I will respond to JB's statements about our case. 1) I do have the name of our power of attorney and the IRS stated that JK Harris was listed. So not at any time did the IRS ever state that JK Harris was not supposed to be acting on our behalf.

2) Only when I started getting conflicting information from JK Harris and no communication from JK Harris in regards to my case did I have no choice but to contact the IRS. Additionally, the reason for the contact was to see if JK Harris had done what they stated. And much to my surprise, no there was no calls made like I had been told. I really hate to make this statement but, I feel like I was lied to on several different instances regarding my case and there is no question about the misrepresentation from the initial rep. As I see your ad's on TV, I laugh because what you say you can do and the reality are two different things. Ultimately, the bottom line is that JK Harris makes a bunch of empty promises. As for customer service, I feel like based on my own personal experience they have a tremendous amount of shortcomings. Their people skills in many cases are worse than the federal agency you supposedly haggle with. I also find it funny that not one attempt from JK Harris has been made to contact me and find out why I have had a new Power of Attorney supersede theirs. Again another example of customer service.

JB, if you have any stroke behind you then get me a refund in full for services not rendered. If you can make that happen then I will cease any all legal means necessary in pursuant of JK Harris and any its agents.

I feel like JK Harris has been deceptive in their practices and JK Harris has caused me additional monies that I should not have had to spend if they would have done their job!

***Response to Mike in Round Rock, TX

AUTHOR: Jb - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, October 17, 2007

Mike,

Based on the information you provided in your complaint, I have located your file in our records. There are two things you mention that I would like to address. When you received a welcome call from JK Harris, one of the things they inform all of our clients is that if you contact the IRS to find out if JK Harris has a Power of Attorney to act on your behalf, they are going to tell you no. This is because the Power of Attorney is filed in the individual Licensed Taxpayer Representative's name who is acting on your behalf. Your LTR was in communication with the IRS regarding your case, but because you did not know her name, you would not have been able to confirm that JK Harris was in contact with the IRS.

Secondly, once you hire JK Harris to act on your behalf, we must be the contact between you and the IRS. Given the fact that you contacted them on many occasions, they were able to bypass our Power of Attorney. This bypass of our Power of Attorney caused delays, which delayed an outcome in your case.

It is our goal to provide our customers with excellent customer service. If there is anything additionally we can do to assist you, please contact us at clientmessages@jkharris.com.
