Stephen Franklin from American Legal Services said that I am being charged with an internet crime against Insta-Cash online lending. I do not nor have ever requested an online loan with this company. Count #1: Violation of Federal Bank Regulations. Count #2: Electronic Bank Check Fraud. Count #3: Theft by deception. I was told that there is a recording of my giving false information to obtain a loan and when an attempt to draft my account, the funds were not available. Mr. Franklin refused to give me the phone # of Insta-Cash so that I could dispute the charge.
He also refused to email me the supporting documents by saying if he did, he would have to issue a warrant for my arrest. He advised me of my rights as if he was a police officer. He then proceeded to tell me that it would cost me $5484 to resolve this case. This is fraud to the highest degree if I ever heard one. I am a senior student in Criminal Justice and have contacted my professors who are attorneys. They verified that this is fraud and this company is attempting to illegally frighten people into sending them money. I will report this scam to the BBB as well. Thanks
