When I received my monthly phone bill from Frontier this month, I noticed it was about $15.00 higher than normal, so I checked out the bill detail I found a charge as follows:

Detail of ESBI Long Distance Calls
Toll charged to xxx-xxx-xxxxx
Ref # Date Time Min *Type Place and Number Called Charge
1 DEC 29 VOICE MESSAGING MOFEE 14.95
Billed on Behalf of INTELICOM
MESSAGING 315/392-5646 Subtotal 14.95
TOLL CHARGE INQUIRIES CALL 800-460-0078

Wondering what it was, I tried to call customer service for our phone company. The wait time was over ten minutes, so I decided I would try to 800 # above. A polite man with a foreign accent answered my call and transferred me to "Intelicom Customer Service". While on hold, a recorded voice thanked me for my patience and suggested I visit their website at www.billview.com , which I did while waitng . Found an online customer service form I could fill out. Decided to wait, glad I did! I talked to a very polite young woman, again with a foreign accent. After verifying the name on our account (and my phone number), I asked what the charge was for. She went into her spiel about the enhanced voice mail messaging service, and then gave me the name of who signed up for it (online, she said). She gave me my 22 year old daughter's name. I said, "Thats funny--she doesn't even live here anymore. Why would she sign up for something like this?" I told her I wanted it canceled and she asked for an email address so she could send me a confirmation letter and that the charge would be removed in 1 or 2 billing cycles. The email I received was very plain, with no business header.

I then called my daughter to ask her why she would sign up for something like this. she said she hadn't signed up for anything. She did a google search on the company and found it was a scam.

Well, they picked the wrong person this time. My husband happens to be an employee of Frontier, and he is reporting it to his higher-ups. The charge has been removed from our bill, and we have put in place a block on third party billing on on bill so they can't hit us again next month.
