Interface called me in for an interview after seeing my resume on a website. I came in for an interview, the guy liked me, and invited me for a second interview.

In this second interview, we were given a folder of information and began to learn about the company and the position we were applying for, which was a schedule coordinator. It was me three others. At the end of the interview, we were schedule for a role play, in which we were going to be examined on our ability to go through the call flow (a layout of how a call was supposed to play out).

When i showed up for the role play, there was two other people there I had failed to see during the process so far. This raised the question of if the company had a high employee turnover rate. We all did terrible on our role play, and the guy gave us feedback like we were the best people he ever role played with. This then rose another question, how many people did these guys hire?

After the role play, we clocked in and began our first day. We all sat together watching this woman make calls. Apparently, we were supposoed to learn something from listening one way on a call. Through conversation, we found out that the new people got leads from months ago and people that had already expressed absolutely no interest doing business with the company, even though the guy that hired me told me we were going to get leads as fresh as 15 minutes ago to the day prior.

The next day, I came back in the morning. The manager told me we were supposed to listen in on a call and hear both sides, but when I came in they asked me if I was ready to begin making calls. I said no and that I wanted to listen in on a call. For two hours I sat into another caller, and after, I began my first day of calls. As expected, every person that picked up was angry about receiving another call or immediately hung up. Every now and then people were sprinkled in that would listen, but they still expressed no interest. To be honest, this was my first time ever telemarketing, and I heard people say it's possible to change people's minds but I think it's impossible. If your not interested, then you aren't interest, in my opinion.

On my third day, I came in with a lot of new people, probably about 20-30. We all sat down and started at it. We had a meeting together where they tried to address our issues with calling. Then after another hour of calling, I was called into the manager's room. He sat me down and basically told me they were looking for someone with more experience and that I can use him as a reference in the June to apply again, where they will have mroe time to train me. What pissed me off the most is that they saw my resume when they selected me to be called, when I came in for an interview, and saw my experience when I did the role play. They wasted mine and im sure many other people's time. To me it seemed like they brought in a mass amount of people, took the cream of the crop, and let everyone that wasn't good enough go.

All in all, I would say if you got what it takes go for it. They do treat schedule coordinator crappy and especially the new oens. It is a very stressfull environment. Be very careful, do not quit your job like I did for it.
