I recently went to a career fair and met with an IPA representative; his presentation was impeccable, his company overview was insightful, and his demeanor was pleasant. To my surprise, I was contacted the next morning by an additional IPA representative to schedule a telephone interview for the senior business analyst position. This is where I began to ponder: what kind of consulting firm would recruit a person who doesn't hold the desired experience to adequately quantify business operations? Albeit, I hold degrees in science, an MBA, and a general analytical background, I was delightfully stunned to be considered for a senior position for which I knew nothing about.

Ever so eager to be successful and at the same time try to make some sense of the situation, I did some research in order to counter the interview. As such, I came across numerous articles, most of which in the form of complaints, ill-natured stories, as well as this forum.

As many may be pleased to read, I did interview with International Profit Associates with the information I had at hand. I asked why would a firm target small businesses, knowing well that in a small business, most people wear multiple hats and cannot benefit from consulting services. I noted that many clients feel that they were swindled, that the solutions offered were generic and hackneyed. The representative noted that every sized business can benefit, and that only the business owners who don't follow the consultant's advice and reap the rewards feel mislead.

In the end, I told the representative to go to ****. I told him that he represented a deceitful and fraudulent company, and that no descent and respectful person would even consider employment with his company. He hung up on me.
