Three years ago, I bought a computer and signed a three-year contract with compuserve in order to get the $400 rebate. I got the rebate at that time through the store that I had bought the computer in.

I called compuserve August 7, 2002, and talked with a costomer service representative who told me that the contract will end March 27, 2003. I told the representative at that time, that when the contract was up cancel the account. I was told that this would be done.

I called compuserve on June 30, to tell them that my credit card is still being charged for their service. I spoke with four representatives. The first one told me that basically I was out of luck and would have to pay for 10 more months of service because I had not cancelled the account the day before the contract ran out. When I asked to speak with a supervisor, I was told that I could not speak with one.

The second person I spoke with would not listen to what I had to say, refused to let me speak with a supervisor and told me to call the cancellation department.

The cancellation department was courteous. I was told that I am entitled to a refund of the monies that had been charged to my credit card account after the contract ran out. I was then transfered to the billing department.

The billing department told me that I am not entitled to a refund, and also refused to let me speak to a supervisor.

OH WHAT A BLODDY CROCK OF BULL

Your report makes no sense at all whatsoever. First you say that you agreed to a three-year contract with Compuserve. Then you say you signed up in 8/02 and tried to cancel in 3/03. That's not even one full year, let alone three!! Compuserve does not owe you any money!! You owe Compuserve for 2+ years of service. If you sign a three-year contract, you cannot cancel until AFTER your contract is up. That means, since it was 8/02 when you joined Compuserve, you must keep your service until 8/05!!! Obviously the customer service dept was just having fun with you by giving you the run-around. Customers that always want to get something for nothing are fun to jerk around sometimes.
