Well it's April 1, 2013, and perhaps I got the worst April Fools day Joke from Iolo Sytstems LLC . and in fact I am not amused...

I had barely gotten in the door after al ong day of doing errands and in fact I get this sudden phone call. I answered and was surpised to learn that this waws someone named "Damien" from Iolo Technical Support...

Now I do have Iolo's System Mechanic Professional (Version 11) on my computer and I still have a couple months left on the porodct's one year contract I have signed..

But what is curious is that Iolo Called me..

Rule 1 of all customer service: A company does not call you to discuss any and all matters of your privacy.. In short, Someone made an Unsolicitied fphone call..

Now I didn't argue with this person but whe the person Started to ask details about my age, and what I did, I could smell a scam comng from a mile away. I explained (in a very pleasant tone that before I would give permission to such  a request, I would need to confirm this with a manager.. He put me on hold, and after a 2 minute wait, I get a person who says that his name is Micheael and yet for a person with that name, he had a very similart language inflection.. I fact I was starting to think that this person was acting very suspicious... So I asked if he was with the company (Iolo Systems LLC of Los Angeles California..

Rule 2 of customer service.. Never pass yourself off as a manager... cause if you got a blind guy listening he can tell it's you...

Now again after a few more minutes of hemming and hawing around I was askied if A tech could look at my computer.. The reality is, that I never requested a tech to do so.. Usually when I dealt with a person it was face to face and in fact he (the maanger ) assured me about this..

Then I asked him a simple question.. How much would it cost?

He explained that it would be 299 for a 2 year  support, I explained to let me talk to the tech.. And see if this was true..

Rule 3 ifyou're going to scam someone.. Get someone else to confirm and back you up..

So then I get the tech.. No surprise.. Same guy and in fact you could tell it by his inflection again...

Rule 3.. Fool me once, shame on you, try to fool me again? And you're an idiot for trying..

Again I explained what was goingon, and that I was not too happy.. Seems the first guy (who is in actuality the same guy I was talking to had found some 60,000+ Viruses on my computer.. Computer viruses that Iolo System Mechanic Professional (The latest versio 11.0) that failed to prevent..

60,000 Instant Red Flag..

Frankly if a comptuer program is that flawed.. Then why did I buy into the 39.956 for the one year contract?

Now here's the thing... The guy said he'd give me two year support for the 299.. I explained tohim that I was poor, and that every last cent I use has to go into literal survival of my life. I whiddled the guy down and explained that when you are on low income that you have to save every last cent..

I then asked him a prime question.. and it kind of threw him for a loop..

I said, "Look sir, which is more important today? A computer that is not necessary or a person's life that is?

He responeded correctly sayig that a person's life is more important. At which point he told me it would be a one time free service call and that would be it, but that the next time It would be 199 bucks..

Again more red flags..

Now I've dealt with things like Consumer scams and what not, and I know for a fact that this is a supposedly reputable company that is supposed to sell a reputable piece of software, that is supposed to give you the best protection...

Number 4: Don't lie to me, it's junk and you know it.. then you try to steal money from me, and in the end want to ruin my health on top of that? No thank you...

But the ttech was admiant so I let him do his work and sent him on his merry way.. Now I'm going to wait for the bombshell to hit, ad see if either of my credit cards are going to be charged.. (Sadly they couldn't get the money out of me as neither has the full amount they wanted.. Too bad..

End of story is this.. Iolo Systems is Not to be trusted.. Dishonest Unsolicited phonecalls, Un authorized work and trying to take you to the cleaners when you're poor.. It's more like Technological gang  rape to me.. And in it the  only thing they are doing is raping your wallet..

Now the truth about the matter be told.. I'm retired, Unemployed, and Even Legally blind.. That in itself is a triple whammy and a sign that I'm not too long for this world.. Frankly if I were to end up in the hospital cause of stress and the agony of not being able to eat, then that's exploting a person to the hilt.. If they kill me it's the equivalent of 2nd degree murder..while committing fraud...

Frankly Iolo is a verydangerous company that preys on the elderly and doesn't care who they hurt, either financially, emotionally , psycholoigcally or even physically.. A person with a weak heart and who can not handle stress should not purchase this software.. A person who sings the praises of this software, better hold his or her tongue.. It's garbage software, the techs overcharge for so little work, and in fact all this stress could put a very sensitive and caring person into the hospital..

The end line is this.. If Iolo is a tech company that is trying to help you, shouldn't it be you who makes the call when your computer is on the fritz? Or is it that you're just trying to kill a person who now is angrier at the company than he would be if that unsolicited phone call never came..

Frankly It's a shame really. You try to have a piece of mind, and instead you could end up dead from a heart attack when they charge you a high even price even a poor Blind guy can't afford..

Oh and as for a friend who suggested this.. Remind me not to send him that christmas card this year.. He has helped cause this tress, and all I want from Iolo is a simple apology and an assurance that this will never happen again.. Frankly it's such a disgrace that they could accidentally kill a person because you were so nice to allow them to try and gain your trust..

Trust.. that seems to be the issue here with Iolo.. They don't want to make a fool proof software in order to keep your computer safe.. But what is malicious is the fact that an Unsolicited phonecall could raise a person's blood pressure to the limit and cause them to have a stroke or a heart attack...

Does a company like this need to be remembered as a company that caused a heart attack, or a massive heart failure and put a man or woman in the hospital? Do they want to feel theremorse of not only losing a customer but rather a human life wen they decide to use such exploitive tactics to potentially kill a person? I think that the owner of Iolo Systems LLC should reconsider his options and get out of the business before he is met at the door with an arrest warrant for attempted or actual 2nd degree murder cause of the stress inflicted by their actions..

Frankly it disgusts me that in the end the company wants their money, and that they don't care about human life.. Frankly if they ddi, they'd at least call me back and apologize.. for the wasted tme I had to spend, for the wated energies they gave me, and for any potential loss of well being because they decided to pull a hideos prank..

They say that a  fool in April is an April Fool. The reality is.. The only fools is the one who decides to pul the prank and not realize the consequences of their actions..

That's really all I have to say on 1 April.. 2013.. April Fools ? No no, The fool is the guy who called me.. and then tried to pass himself off not once but three times.. just for the sake of 300 bucks and not realizig the value of human life.. After all I hope tomorrow when April 2 rolls around He has the gall to look himself in the mirror and realize.. that he talked to a nice person.. A person who cared about humanity.. But now? I'm pretty much upset, and have contemplated that if people are so callous for greed, is it worth the fact to play such a cruel April Fools day joke?

That's all I ahve to say.. Nuff Said, End of story.
