===================== NOW TO THE ORIGINAL REPORT THAT WAS FILED

===================== IPA - IBA, International Profit Association Integrated Business Analysis Hi Pressure Scam consulting attempt - Don't be fooled. Buffalo Grove Illinois

Watch out for IPA-IBA's slick high-pressure sales.

I received a cold call yesterday which I thought was a call referred by a business acquaintance. The IPA-IBA caller arranged for a "Senior Area Manager" to come to my office today to explain how they could help my small business. I looked up their (very professional-looking) website while on the phone and agreed to the visit.

She came and gave a decent enough presentation to get me to sign up for a consultant to visit to do a one-day lookover of our business and to make suggestions for $350. I signed the agreement which clearly stated that I owed the money only on the satisfactory completion of the initial report. That seemed okay.

I next looked on the web and found a link to a June 2000 article from INC. Magazine that was very negative and exposed the methods that IPA-IBA uses. Thank you INC. The article was right about their scamming methods.

I also found a link to a Rip-Off.com report that was submitted on 1-2-06 by a former employee warning us of the company's problems. Thank you for reporting.

In less than an hour, I called IPA-IBA to cancel the consultant's visit, and I was transferred to a skillful harrasser who called me back 4 times in the next half-hour to say that IPA already (in 45 minutes, right!) had a consultant on the way by air. He changed his approach many times and said that I would have to pay the $350 anyway. I have never had to contend with such a high pressure salesman before. At least I was prepared by the articles.

I followed-up my cancellation with a fax. We'll see what happens...

Allen, I too, was contacted by IPA. The initial appointment was set up, but canceled an hour later after a little research was done on this company. I phoned and faxed the sameday.

We STILL recieve phone calls from this company several times a week. I just do not know how to stop the bs.

IPA-IBA called again

AUTHOR: Allan - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, January 26, 2006

An IPA guy called this morning to try to make an appointment. I told him about the business practices that were mentioned on the web as my reason for cancelling any contact with their company.

I asked the man to "never call me again" to which he responded cheerfully "I'll call you on Monday."

Too bad that he is paid to bother people...

IPA-IBA stayed away, thank goodness

AUTHOR: Allan - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, January 19, 2006

Thanks again, Rip-off Report users. I am glad that I demanded by phone and in writing that no consultant show up today.

Fortunately no one did show up even though the IPA rep on the phone claimed that he had already had someone IN THE AIR on the way to my office. This was in spite of the fact that the woman who visited our office claimed that they would send someone local so there would be no travel expenses, just the $350 for the consultation. Strangely, the IPA guy on the phone also kept saying there would be "no risk, you only pay if you are satisfied with the work," while at the same time demanding that I agree to pay the $350 anyway. WRONG!!!!

Other reports on this site now make sense to me because the "contract" for "only" $350 was open-ended for travel expenses that were not covered by the satisfaction clause. The clever "contract" is probably why these folks are still operating.

Don't let any of these folks in your door or you may have bills that you actually owe!

My lesson learned today is to NOT respond to ANY solicitation from ANY source. Ask for referrals from trusted friends.
