Received a phone call from Legal affairs of US treasury Department Badge number 4165 regarding an enforcment action which has been executed by the US treasury department in your name regarding tax fraud in your name. Ignoring this will be an intentional attempt to avoid initial appearance before a federal majestrate judge or a grand jury for a federal criminal offense. So before this matter goes to federal claims court house or before you get arrested, call us back on 202-866-0509. Hope to hear from you soon before the charges are pressed against you. So I called them back. Spoke to a man with a heavy accent, (India), maybe, saying there were three charges pending: Violation of federal taxation regulation, malicious altering of commercial instrument, theft by deception. When I dug into it further it was from tax year 2001. He said taxed were not paid on time and the check was not written correctly. They would have to verify my identify. I did not have the right to have a CPA assist me with handling this. I would need a criminal lawyer. Payment plan to payback would be over as of now if I would not cooperate. They could come arrest me and put me in jail for the next 6 months without warning. I told him we are farmers and we always have a loss on the farm so we have never written a check to the IRS for our yearly taxes. He said, "You have never paid taxes?" I said, "No, we have filed our taxes and paid out of our paychecks every year, but we always get money back at the end of the year. So I don't know what he is talking about re: writing a malicious, deceptive check to the IRS." I asked him why he is calling me at my work number. He said we tried your cell but you didn't answer. I have no calls on my cell number. The one I list on our taxes. He could not tell me what that number was. I asked if he call me back to use my cell number and I provided it for him. Do not call me at work anymore. I want to see if he calls me back.

The IRS doesn't call you for payment - it is a scam

AUTHOR: FloridaNative - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, September 08, 2016

I'm sure you were suspecting it was a scam anyway since you pay your taxes and file every year.

If the IRS wants you to make a payment, they will contact you by US mail.

This has been an ongoing scam for years - where individuals pose as IRS agents. The FTC website has a warning about it on their website - just look up Scammers posing as IRS agents.

Don't give out personal information to anyone that calls you claiming to be from the IRS or the Federal Government and looking to collect over the phone. Hang up immediately when they call you. File a complaint with the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration - they have a complaint form specifically for IRS Impersonation Scam Reporting.
