My Daughter and Son-in-law have both went to ITT tech School; My daughter never fininshed they gave her the problems when she tried to redo a course; you see she worked full time and went to school; they were all good with her untill she had to take a class over; then they would not work with her so she in frustraion dropped out; she also witnessed the changing of instructers and she could not understand how just "Anyone" would pass the
intro exam to get into the School; Now she has to pay all this money back $35,000.00 and they have wrecked her Credit! I do not know how they ITT Tech; can get away with this??? My son-in-law did graduate however, cannot find a Job in his feild for the last 3 years and only 1 person from his class has found a job in the feild he went to ITT for. I belive that ITT has had the oppertunity to redeem themselves for years and from what I am reading they have not...
I would like to see a Class Action suit against them so because they ruined our Childrens lives and Credits for Life! I am so angry about this.....All these people wanted to do is get a good education and a decent Job to follow; and they got a slap in the face and a HUGE bill to pay back.

If there is any Atorney that is willing to possibly take on this School please respond to my email..

ITT is a scam

AUTHOR: dakine2285 - (United States of America)

I also went to ITT and did graduate with two degrees.  Well neither degree really has helped me land a job, the jobs I have had could care less about my degrees from ITT.  I am currently working in the field I went to school for, but I was already in the field before going to school.  None of my jobs have asked questions about my degrees or paid me more because of them.  My income is half of what I owe to SallieMae / ITT-Tech so thanks for that help ITT.  I have friends that went to a real university and paid less then half of what I did for ITT and they make double what I make.  ITT put me into so much debit its crazy, and the classes they provide are just junk.  One example: We had a class that the teacher was teaching the wrong information for 2 weeks until he noticed he was teaching the wrong class.  ITT-Tech would not provide us the class for free, would not do anything to help make it right and also the teacher kept his job.  Also in another class with the same teacher, it was a technial classes that was all server based stuff and we never touched any servers or routers.  Once again ITT-Tech stood behind the teacher (which I can understand since he is their employee), and did not help the students anyway and we got screwed over and did not learn a thing but yet we all passed because ITT is built for everyone to pass.  The only way to fail at ITT-Tech is not to show up at all or drop out. Even then its hard, one student missed all but 2 classes and passed with an A for his final grade.  Also that teacher passed out in all of our classes when lab time came around, are you kidding me.

There are laws protecting consumers against purchasing a lemon from a dealership. Do you not think that the same kinds of protections should also be applied to schools?

ITT Tech Fakes Student Loans

AUTHOR: Shari74 - (U.S.A.)

Be sure to go back to the bank and ask to see the approval letter.  We caught ITT Tech faking my son's student loans - my son never qualified for any loans - ITT Tech disbursed a fake loan to his balance sheet - then reported it to the Dept. of Education for collection - hoping to pressure him for payment - When the Dept. of Ed asked for documentation, ITT Tech sent the application for the loan - hoping that the Ed Dept wouldn't ask any questions - we have the denial information.

ITT Tech keeps a list of all loans applied for - and if they were denied.  They do not want you to see it - be sure to check if the student loan is real

We think they faked a lot of loans - because most students don't qualify for loans - the only loans a poor student can get is a Stafford Loan - They may have reported $80,000 in loans that don't really exist.

Scarry thought - it happened to us - we demanded that the Dept. of Education fix this, or we'll sue

ITT Tech time to get even

AUTHOR: takingdownitt - (USA)

Greetings to all who have fallen victim to ITT Tech's propaganda and predatory sales pitches, and now unaffordable student loans.  I am a former ITT Tech student and share almost all of the same sentiments about the experience I had while attending this degree mill.  Realizing this way too late in the game and feeling defrauded, not to mention deceived, I have been searching for a solution to this complex form of thievery with not much success..............until recently! Please contact me for more info. This could be our only chance. We already have many people like us together and if you legitmately feel that you have been lied to and feel that ITT has misrepresented their services please email me at (((ROR redacted))). God bless!

Feasability of lawsuits

AUTHOR: Tim - (U.S.A.)

I agree that ITT is, to put it nicely, a bad deal.

The cost of attendance is many times that of community colleges and, in fact, is in the neighborhood of Ivy League tuition.

And no, the school is not respected by the employing community for the most part, and credits are not likely to transfer.

As far as a lawsuit goes, you would basically have two options. One would be based in false advertisement, the other in education malpractice.

I don't see a high likelihood of a false advertisement claim against ITT. Their ads state that "credits earned are unlikely to transfer." And while success stories may be limited, I'm sure there are a few, and there's nothing illegal about parading your successes in recruitment efforts, even if you're not representing a likely experience.

Per education malpractice, this is probably also a loser. Poor quality of instruction isn't sufficient. You would pretty much have to be tought things that are completely wrong.

Enrolling with ITT is a bad consumer decision. But in a free market, we are free to make poor choices. The onus is on the consumer to perform whatever research is necessary to ensure that he's not getting a bad deal.

These are just the legal concepts that are jumping out at me after reading the above posts. There may be others that could fit. But as I (and most likely the law) see it, choosing ITT without researching its background and your other options is like buying a used car solely on the representations of the salesman. If you end up with a lemon, you're probably SOL.

Sorry that I couldn't be the bearer of better news. I would still, however, definitely reccommend consulting with an attorney or two and getting some more perspective on this.

Best regards!

A students perspective on ITT

AUTHOR: Hipstick - (U.S.A.)

********** I posted this in another rebuttal but thought it might help some gain perspective

I agree with many of the posts here, however I think there is a major dynamic of the school that you are all missing. First off I'm not a genuis, however I do apply myself. I have a 4.0 GPA and have barely broken a sweat. My hardest course was Physics, and I left that course with a 94, and absolutly no idea what kinetic energy is. Will I use Physics? Probably not, but if I transfer to a Univ. I'm going to be expected to understand the concepts.

With that said, the major issue at the Lake Mary, FL campus, is the grand "slacker syndrome" as I call it. The school allows it's students to slack off, and will pass them with very little effort from the student. They may not get a high GPA, but they'll get the degree and that's really all that matters on a resume. At Itt-Tech you only get what you yourself put into it. There are no teachers pushing you to do a GREAT job, they are impressed when papers are turned in on time. No one expects great things from you, so no one does great things.

Also alot of my instructors have SUCKED. But I have had some really great ones. Most of the horrible teachers I've had were let go or quit themselves after realizing it wasn't a right fit. It seems that they'll hire anyone to teach a class, but on the flip side of that, they'll fire someone for practically anything. They recently let go a great teacher at my campus. He was forced to teach classes that he didn't know anything about. Of course students started complaining that he wasn't competent and before you know it, he's fired. After 5 years of teaching there.

Teachers have told me that when asked to teach classes that they weren't trained to teach, the administration would tell them, "Just read this powerpoint we created to follow the curriculum, you'll be ok." Anyone teaching a course that they themselves know only from reading a power point or textbook, basically are teaching you from nothing but text. So in fact, in those classes you could go to a library and check out a book that would have given you the same information.

Another major error on the side of ITT is the Virtual Library. A multi-million dollar peice of junk that serves no other purpose but to piss off it's students. Why not actually build a real library? It's the biggest waste of money I've ever seen. It has potential, but not until they hire a company to make it easy to use and reliable.

One last point and my rant is done. The "slacker syndrome" that I spoke about earlier is my main issue with the school. Many students in my classes hold me back because the instructor is constantly forced to go over material again and again. Students who attend ITT immediatly realize that they do not have to apply themselves. As soon as this realization is met, they miss class every other week and then complain that we don't get enough lab time. They have no knowledge of what it means to work on a "group" project and no desire to apply themselves. It makes me sick to think how much money they are putting into their education only to leave the school with barely any more advantages then a high-school graduate. If the school forced all their students to attend class, turn in assignments and maintain standards that every REAL school enforces, students would benefit from it. Students who leave the school with no education, and then find jobs which they are let go from due to incompetence only give, other ITT grads a bad name.

I don't think that I would recommend this school to anyone, but if you are currently attending ITT, apply yourself, and make the best of it. A University professor that I recently spoke with told me that if I fight hard enough some Universities would accept the majority of my credits. I will however have to fight, submit my textbooks and present examples of what I've learned.

ITT Tech Grad!

AUTHOR: Enovia - (U.S.A.)

I am a ITT grad and have a great job! Sounds to me like your daughter couldn't hang. Don't blame the school for her now having bad credit, pay your bills! I am now going to a University for Masters degree! I got accepted to University of Wisconsin (platesville), Robert Morris University, and waiting to hear from Stevens Institute of Technology. Any questions?

ITT is a rip-off

AUTHOR: Wasteoftime - (U.S.A.)

ITT is a rip-off. When the financial department says it will cost about $5000 a year give or take make them put it in writing,it cost $37000 for two years. The classes are set up for everyone to pass so you keep going and keep paying. No credits transfer to anywhere and if the say they do make them put that in writing also. All the employers I talked to dont see ITT as a college. ITT is a waste of time and money.

Itt Tech Greenfield -No help- Ridiculous School!!!

AUTHOR: Eyesofcharisma - (U.S.A.)

I went there for 7 months. I earned 6 credits, taking stupid math classes and 'how to be a technical professional' classes. I was struggling in the programming class and was given no help. I got so frustrated I dropped out because I felt I was over my head, and was just treated like crap. The teachers changed ALL of the time, they had IT guys teaching english classes. So ridiculous. So, I owe $7k for absolutely nothing.. I hate ITT Tech, biggest waste of time and money ever...
