Let me start by saying that I was on the 4 yr bac. program (for Criminal Justice) but recently had to switch to the assoc. program for what I am about to tell you guys.I was trying to get into the law enforcement field and I thought that a bac. degree is respected as any other bac. degree  would be as far as employers r considered. Well to my surprise it isn't. Most places in this field will not even accept a degree from ITT as being a credible one.In other words if me and another guy go out for the same job I have a degree from here and he has nothing, we are getting paid the exact same. In short, the degree will NEVER pay for it self.Which is  the reason that I had to switch programs u see I'm 7 quarters in. I feel its better to spend 40,000 dollars( roughly) on a "assoc. degree" than it would to drop out and  spend 35,000 on nothing. And u better believe that when I told my dept. chair that I wanted to switch it was a BIG deal. As which it should be(thats 47,000 dollars their losing)Anyway, after I finally told him the reason..he replied "u know alot of law enforcement jobs do not require a degree to get" which is true they don't...and I already knew that. So, what that meant to me is the only jobs I am eligible to get are those that do not require a degree. Are u fu*&^%$ kidding me. I (an well as many others I am sure) are spending an absurd amount of money to get a job that they don't NEED to have a degree to get. I'm am certain there r a few ( very few) success stories out there but I feel that there should be alot more of them  with the money that students are  spending in this place.

Another problem I have is that people are being passed through the courses and not doing a lick of work (myself included.)  Last quarter I stopped ALL work at the 3th week, really just to see if i would pass a friend told me he suspected them of changing his grades as well  (there r roughly 11 weeks per quarter). I came late, left early all I did was show up from the 3rd week on (even sleeping sometimes) and left with a mid.B grade.Guys r being passed with 3.0 and higher and don't know the 1st thing about there field, not just my field but in other fields at this school as well.Employers know this that is why they do not accept their degrees they know this place is a joke.I'm 1 quarter from my assoc. degree and I know more than i did when i came into this place only because of a very select few teachers that were good at teaching and alot of after hours research on my part because I am interested in this field. But at the same time I have not gotten anywhere close to my money's worth. I know what some of u r thinking "its my fault for not reading that  out -of -date book from  cover to cover and not knowing the material for that class. What I have to say to u guys is that u are without a doubt 100% right. It is My fault for not knowing the material for that class  BUT when I get passed without the education then the blame gets shifted to ITTs lap.

Another thing that was told was i would be getting a very good hands on education that could not be found at other schools.I was also told that "most of the classes were hands on.Well when I think of "most" I think of  more than half.Well people I have had 21 classes and have had only 1 (evidence collecting) hands on class...Wasn't even a hands on CLASS it was just hands on for an hour or so during that period.

Another thing I have read is that  the amount of money ITT gets is affected by student g.p.a and attendance somehow. Which would make a lot of sense as seeing how they r having a drawing for a laptop this week and all u have to do to be eligible for it  is just be in class for the next few weeks. And they are traded on the NYSE (under ESI). so right there that should tell u something. Not to mention 12 campuses were under federal investigation from the Justice Dept. for possibly changing grades and attendance reports among other things in 04.No charges were ever filed but the federal government doesn't just raid places cause they r driving by em.

Another thing,  when I was in the recruiters office before coming here I asked "after I get my bac. degree from here and should I decide to further my education  from say a place such as U of M would I be in a position to do so." He replied, " each school is different. but I DO know that U of M accepts our credits because we are both in TN. So right there; I was lied to, straight up like 12 o' clock, As I now know U of M will only accept credits from math and comp courses. But they credits not being able to transfer was never a big deal really because i had no intention of transferring schools. But now that i know that a degree from here is not looked at as being a credible one by many employers I'm pretty much see that i have wasted 47,000 dollars and 2 yrs just wasted. And also if you are inquiring about coming to ITT and nothing I (or any of the thousands upon thousands of students who have stories similar to mine) have said has turned u away from ITT. Maybe u want to come here for the "outstanding" job placement program.Just remember that if you ask they what % of placement they have, make sure u ask the question "is this the % of people that have been put into a job regarding their field of study" because as ITT is able to see it if they have 5 criminal justice students(or whatever field) and they get all those people a job flipping burgers they will say they had 100% success rate in job placement. which is total bull^&%^ Just a side point, I had a class called "group dynamics" last night all the class did for the whole 3.5 hr class was watch one of the teachers favorite musicians play a concert on t.v.This was justified to the class  as the band behind the musician was a "group."..This is what I am paying $47,000 for, its laughable.I mean are u fu$%^$%  serious!!!! So everyone sat there and watched it. So in turn we all got 100% of our participation points for last night which ultimately added with your attendance counts as 30% of your overall grade

So sum this all up If you r still interested in coming to ITT just call ahead to future employers, in whatever your field of study is, and see if the degree from ITT is a credible one. If it is and you don't plan on moving or will never have any future interest in going past a bac. degree then go for it. I really wish someone had told me to call ahead 2 yrs ago.  Because that REALLY, REALLY, REALLY jammed me up in the plans I had for my life.

If things are as bad as you say (and I don't doubt you) why not take some real action? As a privately held company, ITT (ESI) has to answer to a Board of Directors and their own stockholders. You can google ESI on yahoo finance (or any other finance search engine), and get the names of some key players. Send them a letter. Better yet, get your fellow students to sign a petition outlining your grievances.  You never know where that might take you.

But you also might want to let someone else write the letter. Your shorthand is inappropriate to business correspondence.
