While installing an Epson Printer and connecting it to my computer, the installation stopped and a screen suggested getting help (supposedly from Epson).  In the previous years I had contacted Epson and found them extremely helpful.  So I clicked on the button and the phone number (855)327-1838 appeared.  Thinking that this is Epson's phone number I called the number.  A smooth talking (and seemingly professional) guy answered the phone and introduced himself as Jihan from iYogi.  I mentioned that I needed to speak with the Epson representative.  He stated that they represent Epson as a second party technical service and unfortunately I trusted him and assumed that he represents Epson and allowed him access to my computer.

He installed the printer and offered that I use iYogi for computer tech assistance at a rate of (I believe) about $175/year.  I said that I will consider it if he sends me an email with the company information.  He said OK but never sent me the email to either of the two email addresses that I provided to him.  Perhaps he had thought that with the problems that I will son have with my computer, I will be contacting them.

When I unfortunately I trusted him and allowed him access to my computer he was able to install some iYogi softwares on my computer that created hell for me for the next three days until I got help from the Geek Squad who spent more than two hours removing junk from my computer.  If it was not for Geek Squad, I would still be unable to use my computer.

I believe that iYogi represemntative misrepresented himself as an authorized Epson tech support and he was unethical by installing iYogi stuff my computer.  If they were a US company I would certainly file a compliant with the authorities but since they are in India, this complaint/report may be the best I can do to help other consumers.
