J C Financial Group Consumer Lottery Win Ripoff Niagra Falls Ontario

I almost fell for the cashier's check that this company sent me in the mail. They claimed that the check was to pay taxes for my share of the second category winnings of a Consumer Reward Program Lottery. My winning amount was $39,000 and the cashier's check amount was $3,950.
On Saturday when I called the phone number provided in the letter to contact my agent, I reached a woman who never asked my name but instructed me to deposit the check immediately and to call back on Tuesday to verify the deposit. I would then receive the balance of my winnings via UPS on Wednesday and had to be home and provide 2 forms of ID and the notification letter with the claim number on it.

I decided to look up the company online but their web site is under construction. Then I went under Consumer Reward Program and lo and behold there were 2 Ripoff Reports filed on other companys with the same lottery scam.

Thank God for your reports. If I had not found them online I might have fallen for this scam. If something seems suspicious, it probably is. I just hope that not too many people have been taken in by this scam due to the financial crisis alot of us face today.
