i recently bought a pre-owned car from a dealership in which jack williams auto & tire center in moosic pennsylvania did some mechanical work on the car prior to me purchasing it(7 days prior).i was shown a work order for the items that were changed.i also have the copy.the valve cover gasket on this car was replaced at a cost of around $250.ive been driving my pre-owned car for around 5 months and put roughly 1500 miles on her.when i noticed smoke pouring out from underneath my hood and the smell of burning oil. i immediately brought it into the nearest shop i could find, where it got looked at and the next day they get back to me and tell me my valve cover gasket is leaking onto my exhaust manifold and my oil filter housing. i had to get this work done since i couldn't drive the car in that condition.which costs me around $950 parts and labor.because of not only the valve cover gasket but also the leaking valve cover leaked onto the oil filter housing gasket and deformed it and that also had to be changed also i was told. i contacted the dealer i bought the car from to ask for the work order from the shop they got the work done from.and i contacted jack williams costumer service to tell them of this problem.they told me theyd get back to me after they would take it up with their manager.after a week they email me to tell me that the guarantee on their work is non-tranferable.so wait?i bought the car from the dealership who had the work done.so that means whoever bought this car the work isnt guaranteed after the car is bought off the lot?this was a pre-owned certified dealership by the way.simply stating that the work done to this car is only guaranteed while test driving this car prior to buying?this is such a scam.a valve cover gasket lasts alot longer than 1500 miles.its obvious that the valve cover gasket that was replaced was installed incorrectly and also cause the oil filter housing was damaged cause of their imcompetence.ive been given the runaround by this company, who doesnt stand behind their technicians and their work.ive very dissapointed in them and their integrity.

still no response from them.they are hiding behind their ripoff guarantee on their work.they will not honor or even admit that their technician didnt do the job correctly and cost me alot of money.i had to pay out of my own pocket a part that they "fixed" less than 1600 miles ago.and also caused another major part to be damaged.this is ridiculous and im very surprised how they are not respondingto a blatant problem caused by them.

seriously?

the valve cover gasket was replaced and was brand new when installed as shown on your work order reciept.the work was done between July 7th-July 9th 2011. the work I had to have done due to the poor quality of work at your shop was on December 21st 2011 that's 5 1/2 months.the old parts not being sent to you should be irrelevant due to the fact of me having to pay $950 worth of repairs due to your lack of quality of work on a part that in no way should have to be repaired after only 1500 miles.you also stated to me that your "guarantee" only covers the parts and not the labor. which is ludicrous since the part you put in wasn't faulty it was your mechanic who installed it that caused the valve cover to leak, not the brand new part.and also I was told that the warranty  on the work isn't transferred from owner to owner. which I understand on a private party transaction.but that doesn't make sense when the work was done for a car that a dealership owns as is going to put up for sale on their lot. which is what happened here. I purchased the car exactly 7 days after the part was replaced.and your also stating that the additional work that was done has nothing to do with a leaky valve cover gasket and that's also incorrect.the leaking valve cover gasket leaked onto the exhaust manifold and also the oil filter housing gasket which was heated up due to the smoke that was pouring out from under the hood due to leaking valve cover gasket.it caused the housing gasket to deform due to the heat.if it was at all possible for me to take the car back to your shop where it was serviced at,i absolutely would of done that.but due to the fact of the heavy smoke that was coming from under my hood and the burning oil smell that was impossible as it would of damaged my car further. i believe your company should stand by your technicians work which was very poor.and you dont seem to want to do that.your held up in your warranty lingo which is terrible.

Jack Williams Tire Company, Inc., Carries Coast-to-Coast Nationwide Service Warranty Through American Car Care Centers (ACCC)

AUTHOR: Jack Williams Tire - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, January 23, 2012

As a family owned and operated business, we try our best to maintain an open and communicative relationship among our customers and their experiences. This continued relationship is what allows us to be a local service provider for tire and auto service needs.

Jack Williams Tire Company, Inc., carries a coast-to-coast nationwide service warranty through American Car Care Centers (ACCC) and the work is guaranteed for 6 months/6,000 miles. If a warranty-related problem is encountered as a result of a defect in either workmanship or material during the warranty period, ACCC will perform the repairs under the terms of the warranty (authorization must be obtained prior to any warranty repair being performed).

The original repair to the valve cover gasket was completed in July 2011 at Jack Williams Tire and at no time were we notified nor ACCC that there was a warranty issue. We received an invoice, which shows the valve cover gasket was replaced as well as other repairs that dont pertain to a faulty valve cover gasket, and a request that we refund the full amount. Even though the warranty procedures werent followed, we dont have the old parts and we dont know the condition of the vehicle when it was taken for the valve cover gasket replacement we still offered a refund for the cost of the valve cover gasket, which was declined.
