My wife and I purchased a pre-owned vehicle from Jaguar of Tampa about a month ago.  The process started out very positive.  The salesperson was very professional and courteous.  Up until this point, it was a great experience and I wrote a special 'Thank You' email to their corporate office/website.

Now the problems begin.  The first day we drove the vehicle the check engine light came on. We brought it back and they took the vehicle to the VW dealership to be fixed. We were without the car for 3 days.

The next time we drove the vehicle, the light came on again.  We brought it back and there's $2,500 worth of work that needs to be done and my wife has driven the vehicle a total of 4 times.  We've had it a month and it's spent more time in the shop than in our garage.

There's absolutely no way that Jaguar of Tampa did not know that there were issues with this vehicle before selling it to us. They are not willing to pay for any additional repairs and my wife and I are stuck paying for them.  DO NOT BUY A VEHICLE AT THIS DEALERSHIP. Crown Jaguar in St. Pete is a short drive and well worth commuting an extra few minutes to avoid being ripped off.

That response is laughable and exactly what's wrong with certain business' customer service practices these days.  It's obvious that 'Tyg' has never run thier own business before and certainly doesn't realize that customer service is the driving force behind being a successful company or not. It can drive you to the top of the mountain with great customer service or straight to the bottom of the mountain with poor customer service.

Word of mouth is a much more powerful tool than calling a lawyer in some cases and those are REAL LIFE CONSEQUENCES that Jaguar of Tampa will deal with until this situation has been resolved.  As for your comment about the contract....I read every contract I sign and I 100% realize what 'AS IS' means which I why I'm NOT seeking litigation.  Reputation can ruin a business faster than taking it to court alas, I will continue my effort to get my story out there until Jaguar of Tampa does the right thing.  Either buy the vehicle back from me or fix the problems. If your assumption about thier pre-sale practices is correct, then they should put a little more scruitany on each pre-owned vehicle they put on the lot and make sure there are no issues.

Furthermore, I didn't buy a horse (that could possibly be the worst analogy in history) I bought a car from a so called reputable dealership.  People who purchase a product should have a reasonable expectation that the item they paid a significant amount of money for is in working order.

AS IS!!!!

YOU purchased a vehicle AS IS!! So YOU havent been ripped off. YOU agreed that YOU wanted the vehicle AS IS!! YOU signed paperwork to that effect. So before YOU go around bashing a innocent company understand that there are REAL LIFE consequences to what YOU post online. YOU even preface your own post with YOU purchasing a PRE-OWNED car. After YOU drive it off the lot its ALL your headache. And sorry to bust your bubble but there was no way THEY could have known WHAT was going to happen to the car AFTER it left THIER possesion. THAT is just YOUR issue and YOUR way of trying to hold THEM accountable for the MISTAKE YOU MADE!!!! Obviously YOU DID NOT have the vehicle checked out by a trusted mechanic. YOU ASSUMED that BECAUSE it was Jaguar that there wouldnt be any issues. A bit of knowledge for you. They DRIVE the car, THEY check the fluids. Thats about as far as they can AFFORD to go when taking in a trade in. And YOU can bet that the person trading in the vehicle IS NOT going to disclose the problems THEY have had with it. Its just like trading in a Horse. Which is WHY we have AS IS Laws. Someone trades in a horse and doesnt disclose that the horse had a funny cough and a month after buying it, it dies. The sales person WOULD NOT HAVE KNOWN!!! Same with a vehicle. So STOP ASSUMING!!! It has caused YOU a headache!! I would suggest that any future purchases of a vehicle that you let a TRUSTED mechanic check the vehicle over BEFORE you sign ANYTHING!!!And before YOU start, NO!!!! No I dont work for them, I have ZERO vested interest in ANY WAY!!! I am a consumer just like yourself.
