Jared Shafer caused my 84 year old mothers suicide
Mother was a happy senior living in North Las Vegas.  In 2007 mother had a serious automobile accident, which forced her to go into shock.  For three months mom had problems remembering basic things.  Patience Bristol who was a friend of my sister found a questionable medical doctor to declare mom incompetent.
 Overnight Jared Shafer & Patience Bristol took over her life.  Mom started to recover, but Jared Shafer, Clark Countys former public guardian insisted she be tossed out of her home and placed in Jump For Joy Care.  A lady named Marissa who worked at Jump for Joy was very mean to mom and we found bruises on her arms. I walked in one afternoon to hear Marissa screaming at mother.  Marissa said if you dont do what I say, you will get it again, and you know what that means.   She told us Marissa had hit her several times. 
I hired a lawyer and called the police in an attempt to fight Shafer and the corrupt system. Kind words and no action has been the result.   By 2009 I learned Jared Shafer and Patience Bristol had removed over $72,000 in so-called guardian fees.  A third company AVID Business Services of Nevada took over $15,000 in what Patience called administrative billings. A check with the State and County records showed AVID Business Service of Nevada had no license.  It was a bogus company set up by Shafer in an attempt to bill higher rates against his victims.  
I received two Threatening telephone calls from Jared Shafer telling me to drop my case because having it on the books would only cause emotional stress to mom. I asked him how mother would know about the case.  Shafer said someone will always tell her.  
Two months before moms suicide she told us Patience Bristol said that her  children no longer cared for her.  According to mom, Patience said you are all alone in this world and that is too d**n bad. 
Shortly after Patiences cruel statement, mother cut her wrists.  She bled out before getting to the hospital. 
I am leaving mothers name out of this report.  Her death could have been prevented with a little kindness and compassion from the Nevada courts under Jon Norheim, the Senior Citizens law project, and the horrible staff at Jump for Joy care.  My mothers case is only one out of millions of abused seniors across America.  Something needs to be done to stop elder abuse by guardians.  The Las Vegas Family court takes the easy way out by claiming all families are crooks.  Black listing all caring families makes the exploitation of elders so easy.  Jon Norheim and Judge Chuck Hoskin make their livings by giving guardians like Jared Shafer a license to plunder living trusts and place seniors in sub-standard care.      Las Vegas is filled with commercial properties owned by Jared Shafer.  Involved citizens living in the city know Jared Shafer acquired these properties by stealing from the estates of dead seniors whom he has abused for over 30 years.    The stealing will continue in Nevada as long as people like Jared Shafer and Patience Bristol are allowed to practice as guardians. Turning a blind eye to this problem will result in more death, destruction, and older people fleeing the state in an effort to escape the injustices committed by the Las Vegas Family court.
