 In 2015, after placing an online ad t o sell my home absent a realtor, Mr. Springer came to view my property with his wife and kids. He told me he was looking for a home for his wife and seven kids. I questioned half of what he told me because he was a very smooth talker. He had to be because that was his profession. He was a lawyer. He was paid to be good with people and to be convincing in order to win a case. He knew that I was selling my home without a realtor as to save on extra fees. He also knew I was a single mom of two boys, so, of course he laid on the extra charm

After talking for over an hour, he made an offer on my house. He tried sweetening the deal even more saying since he was a lawyer, he could save me legal fees by drawing up the contracts. I asked him if that was a conflict of interest. He said it was not. I had my doubts and a few bells going off in my head, but he convinced me that if I took a payment of $1.00 from him and I shook his hand, that would be just as binding as a legal document. Before this, however, he told me that he would be paying cash. The only thing was... I would have to wait six months to get it. The money would be wired to me from an associate of his overseas. Yes, I do know what you're thinking! As they left my property, I was in total panic mode. I called my lawyer and got no answer so I left a message to please call me right away. He returned my call in less than five minutes, assuring me that a handshake was not legal by any means. He advised me that if Mr. Springer contacted me again to not speak to him further. I did contact him to say our "deal" was off. I got a reply back saying that I would be sued. I then told him to never contact me again and when he did, I contacted the sheriff. I was very happy to see this person finally had his law license revoked and may be doing a little jail time at Fort Leavenworth.

Did I learn a valuable lesson from my whole ordeal? Why yes, I did. Did he? Only time will tell. I just feel a whole lot better knowing now he must pay. Thanks for letting me share my story! And please learn from me, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!!
