I have to add my story to the long list that is already here. I received a letter in the mail today from JBC Legal Group, P.C. referencing a "dishonored check". The date of this check is 11/16/93 ... 11 years ago!!! They listed the store as Ross Stores 172, the check number, the check date, amount of check and the charges associated with the "dishonored check".

Conveniently, it did not include the bank account number or the bank name. I was so freaked out by this thinking "11 years ago, why hadn't anyone gotten in touch with me before now?". I didn't have any memory of having a "dishonored check", ever!

I called the number listed 800-241-1510. The man that answered the phone quickly gave me his name Matt King (a/k/a the supervisor and "head honcho" as he said) and told me to write a phone number down just in case we are disconnected I will have his direct line, that number was 800-426-1386. I asked him for a copy of the check and he told me that it would take anywhere from 30-90 days and per GA code 13-6-15 I only have 30 days to satisfy this debt before they file suit against me. Blah, blah, blah ...

After talking with Mr. King for almost 30 minutes we were at a standstill. He told me he would note my file that I wanted to satisfy this issue but that the company that hired him did not provide him with a copy of the check AND "normally", "98%" of the time, they are provided with "excerpts" of the check that they are able to provide to their "customers", but not in my case.

He then told me that he was getting frustrated with me and that it was only $55.99 we were talking about. I told him I work hard for my money and before I pay anything, I wanted to at least know the bank name and the address. Once again, he told me he was getting frustrated with me and that he would pay this for me! How kind of him!!! I said that was fine and dandy that he could "make it disappear" but I wanted to receive something in the mail stating it had been satisfied. After a long deep sigh, he asked me to hold on for a minute ... I held on for what seemed like forever and he never came back to the phone.

When my husband came home he directed me to the net to do some research on this legal group and that's when I found this site. My husband also found that JBC Legal Group has over three web sites. Strange, don't you think. We are currently filing a US Postal Mail Fraud complaint with USPS. Not sure what action we will take from here but am so very glad we found this site. Feel free to enter your own complaint to the USPS regarding JBC Legal Group.
