My son in law just received a dunning notice from this group referring to a bad check dating to 1996. After checking the net (including this site), it's clear that this group has gone after a lot of people. If you receive such a letter, call the New Jersey Attorney General's Office of Consumer Affairs to register a complaint. They will send a form to fill out and will request a copy of the letter. You then can send JBC a copy of the complaint that you file and that stops the 30 day clock as far as possibly being assessed the additional fees cited in the letter. The person in the AG's office I spoke to knows exactly who this group is. She said that they have received "hundreds" of complaints. The direct number to the AG group handling JBC is (973) 504-6534.
