JD Byrider specializes in ripping off people who may not be able to offord, or think that they may not be able to get approved for a loan on a vehicle. My wife and I purchased a 2002 mercury sable that had somewhere around 90,000 miles on it in 2014. not even one year later, the engine locked up in it and we had to call JD byrider to pick it up and take it to their shop. They did NOT want to loan us a temperarry car, and when they did it was literally a piece of junk that wasn't really safe enough to drive on the road. after they put a different engine in the car, they wanted to charge us for it! it wasn't even a year purchased!!! after grumbling about the situation they finally let us have the car back, and when we got it back the Air conditioning didn't work. So we had to have them take it back to fix the air conditioning. After we finally got the car back, a few months later the exhaust just pretty much fell off. I had to get new bolts to fix it back in place, and after a few more months the strut on the back broke and punctured a brand new tire! They didn't want to replace the strut under warrenty, instead they wanted us to pay to have it hauled to thier shop and pay their rates for a new strut/tire. I said screw that and we had to pay to fix it ourselves. My advice to anyone is to go to a "buy here pay here" before you go to JD byrider. we paid almost 12,000 for this car with a trade in!!! and it was only booked at 4500 dollars worth so they definately made money off of us! The front struts are also bad on the car. They take junk cars and try to fix them up and sell them as new cars. The problem is that once you sign those papers, they have you screwed and it will be hard to get out of that kind of burden. take my advice and run!!! don't ever by from these people!!!

Lock Up?

AUTHOR: Jim - (USA)

Why did the engine seize?  The typical causes are failure to make oil changes AND insure enough oil is in the crankcase by REGULARLY checking the oil level and running the engine hot by failure to stop the car when running hot due to low coolant or cooling system problems.  If you didn't like the price, then you shouldn't have made the purchase and even better than that, if YOU would not have destroyed YOUR credit, then you wouldn't need to go to a subprime dealership.  However, since all this happened well after you bought it, unless there is a warranty in place, there's no responsibility on their part to fix it for free.

NO RIPOFF HERE -- Complainer had the car a year or more.

How long...

AUTHOR: Liberty1776 - (Afghanistan)

How long do you expect them to be responsible for the car after it is out of their control?  You were in charge of the car - how do you cerity that you maintained it properly?  Parts break all the time - not their fault.  You paid way too much for the car - not their fault.   Your attitude on this is painfully immatrue and uninformed.
