JDS Mobile Homes is a mobile home sale and moving company that I feel rips people off as well as violates the law.  I had a mobile home that was located in a mobile park.  The crooked landlord (Shane Alfred) had JDS Mobile Homes illegally move my mobile home out of the park (separate RipOffReport coming).

I contacted JDS Mobile Homes in regards to these illegal actions.  The secretary admitted that the landlord should have had a court order to have me and my mobile home evicted (LA CCP 4731).  All the landlord did was give an eviction notice.  He did not follow proper eviction proceedings for the State of Louisiana.  I believe JDS Mobile Homes didn't ask for proof because they simply don't care.  The landlord does a lot of business with JDS Mobile Homes.  He purchases, what I consider, overpriced mobile homes from them.  Therefore, since he spends so much money with them they could care less if he's violating the law.

I did notify them I was going to try to resolve the matter with the landlord, Shane Alfred.  They told me to keep in touch.  I had asked them if they were going to charge me any moving or storage fees.  I wanted to know this in case I would file legal action against the landlord.  I was told by the secretary and by the owner himself, Sammy Landry, that Shane Alfred had already paid to have the mobile home moved and that they were not charging any storage fees.  When I had spoken the one time on the phone with Sammy Landry he told me that Shane Alfred even said he would pay to have my mobile home moved to anywhere I wanted it to be moved.  If my mobile home was legally moved then how come this landlord is willing to pay over $1,000 to have it moved off the property and then pay again to have it moved to wherever I wanted it to be moved?  Maybe because Shane Alfred violated the law and was trying to do something in the hopes I don't sue him.

Getting a hold of anyone at JDS seems to be a daunting task.  Oftentimes no one would answer.  If anyone would answer they would claim to not know anything.  The first few calls the ones answering claimed they didn't know anything about my mobile home.  Really?  So JDS moved a large mobile home and has it stored on their property and no one knows anything about it?  How can you miss a large item like a 1980 model trailer?

On November 1, 2012 someone I know was driving passed JDS Mobile Home property.  They noticed the front door to my mobile home was propped open.  Last time I was in my mobile home, while it was on the lot I was renting, the door was securely locked.  Some might say during moving the door might have become ajarred.  Even if that were the case, why was it propped open?  To be propped open someone had to have physically set something to keep it open.  For what reason?  If they were storing my mobile home then they had no legal right whatsoever to enter it or put it in a state to be open and unsecured.  From a legal standpoint JDS Mobile Homes and/or those of their employee(s) that are involved violated Criminal law.  Specifically breaking and entering of an uninhabited dwelling.  This is on top of their illegal moving of my mobile home which I believe is theft of private property.

One of the times I've tried getting information was to find out what happened to my porch.  Shane Alfred claimed JDS Mobile Homes would know.  I called JDS Mobile Homes and a male answered.  He stated that JDS Mobile Homes does not move porches.  They only move trailers.  I attempted to contact Shane Alfred via his cell phone number multiple times.  Twice I left a voicemail letting him know that JDS Mobile Homes has denied moving my porch.  There's only two that could have done it.  Either Shane Alfred paid to have someone tear it down and dispose of it or he had JDS Mobile Homes move/destroy it.  Shane Alfred has ignored my phone calls.

On December 24, 2012 I received a certified letter from JDS Mobile Homes.  It was a letter stating that I owed JDS Mobile Homes over $4,000.  About half was for moving fee and other for storage fee.  The letter stated I had until December 26, 2012 to make payment in full.  The letter stated if I did not make payment in full they they would seize my mobile home as their property.

I literally laughed after reading the letter.  First and foremost, JDS Mobile Homes was trying to charge me a moving fee.  A fee both the secretary AND the owner of JDS Mobile Homes told me that Shane Alfred had already paid.  Next was the storage fee.  I had asked both, the main secretary and Sammy Landry (owner of JDS Mobile Homes) if there was or going to be any storage fee.  I was told there was not.  Now all of a sudden they are trying to charge a storage fee?  A storage fee for property they were in illegal possession of?

The letter was not mailed until December 21, 2012.  I received it on December 24, 2012.  They expect a fee to be paid, especially one I was only then being notified of, within days of them sending the letter?  I called them on December 24, 2012 around 2 P.M.   No one was in.  So, I left a voicemail and set the priority to urgent.  To this date they have NEVER called me back.  In any case, I have never heard of any legitimate company sending a certified letter initially notifying someone of a fee and expecting someone to pay a fee within a day or two.  Normally, when a company makes a demand via certified mail they give you x-amount of time AFTER receiving the notification.  I only check my mail once or twice a week.  What's the point of sending via certified mail and only giving a person days of sending the correspondence to pay?

I replied with a certified letter on January 7, 2013.  It was received by Billy Bently on January 8, 2013 of JDS Mobile Homes.  I gave Sammy Landry the option to legally purchase the mobile home from me.  If so I would overlook his criminal and civil violations.  To date, as usual, I have yet to receive any response.  I see why JDS Mobile Homes and Shane Alfred do business together.  They are both crooks that violate the law and ignore phone calls.

My most recent attempt to contact was today, January 31, 2013 at 2:05 P.M. CDT.  I explained that it has been over three weeks since JDS Mobile Homes had received my certified letter.  She said she was new and did not know anything about the matter.  I was not surprised.  They have a secretary that's been there a while but it seems most times when I call there's always a new secondary secretary.  She said she would pass my message along.  I left my name and number.['k

I would stay away from JDS Mobile Homes.  Based upon my experience you can expect them to violate the law and ignore any calls or letters you send to them.  Just like Shane Alfred, I guess they believe they are so in the right that they don't have to respond to anyone.  That is about to change.  Soon I will be filing a suit against JDS Mobile Homes.  I'm hoping they ignore that too.  I'd be happy to see their owner's name in the paper for a bench warrant for contenpt of court when he doesn't show up to small claims court.
