Jeff Paul and Mentoring of America, LLC has some interesting marketing and sales practices. A guy by the name of TROY THOMAS
(probably not his real name) kept calling me after I purchased the kit for 29.95. He finally got ahold of me and gave me some promising sales pitch about how they wanted to help me. I asked them why they would choose to have Jeff Paul, Shawn Casey and Jim something or other work with me. They said they were a publically traded company and needed to prove to the FTC on a yearly basis that they had success stories. I said it sounded good that they wanted to work with me to become successful.

He said that they had three levels: 12-15K, 10-12K, and 8-10K. He said that with my amount of debt I should probably go with the third one. He said that we would put it on as many credit cards as we could to make up the 9895.00 total they were charging me for the MENTORING.

He then turned me over to his supervisor TYLER TRUMAN. He gave me this full pitch, charged my credit cards and said that he needed to turn me over to customer service to confirm everything.
He did that but at no time did anyone ever say that there were no refunds!!!

One day later a personal situation came up that would prevent me from pursuing this program. A day after that I found all kinds of information on this companies fraudulent activities. I decided with my circumstances that I needed to cancel the program.

I called customer service who kept me on hold for over 8 minutes to find my "file". The agent said that she would have to have my sales rep contact me. I knew at this point that it wasnt going to be easy to cancel.

TYLER TRUMAN called me several times and when I came home from work he finally got in touch with me. I explained my personal issue and said I wanted to cancel, then came the hard sell.

He said, "I cant give you a refund". I asked him why and he said, "Because I want to work with you" "Give it 30 days and if you still arent satisfied then Ill refund your money". Then he said something that made me realize that he really was part of a giant fraud program. "This is just between you and me" he said in reference to the refund after 30 days.

Judging from what I read on here I realized that If I had decided to do the 30 days then at the end I would never be able to get ahold of this piece of garbage and customer service would say "Oh we have no record of a possible refund".

I told the Disgusting liar that I had to discuss it with my husband and promptly called my credit card companies. They said the charge hadnt been cleared yet and they couldnt throw up a dispute yet. He called me at least 6 times while I was on the phone (I have call waiting ID) trying to talk to me about going foward. He said that I would need to confirm again that he was going to work with me. I havent heard from him again but if I do Im going to let him have it.

In the meantime an enrollment confirmation arrived via FEDEX that required my signature and the date. It basically outlines what I was supposed to be getting with the program. I never sent it in but figure if my credit card company asked for an invoice about what I was getting I would be able to show them.

I instructed anyone in my home that if another fedex package arrives to decline delivery. I have also contacted the FTC and filled a complaint. I am also willing to contact my State Attorney and the Utah State Attorney if my credit card companies dont comply with my request to remove the charge. I have not accepted any materials or mentoring sessions and they never stated the refund policy until I asked for one.

What else can I do to ensure I get a refund? Any suggestions will be helpful. THIS COMPANY ARE A BUNCH OF FRAUDS WHO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF PEOPLE. JEFF PAUL OR WHOEVER THE HELL RUNS THIS COMPANY SHOULD BE IN JAIL!!!!!

Questions for Hello

AUTHOR: Anonymus - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, September 28, 2006

Hello,

If you take a look at all the complaints against Mentoring of America on this website, you will find that the price paid varies greatly between $1,500 and $15,000 for the exact same Mentoring of America coaching program. For example, I was charged over $7,000 for the exact same thing others have paid up to $15,000 for. The difference what that other people had more or less open credit or money. JAYDER SALAZAR, the lowly Mentoring of America employee who cheated me only gave me a price after I told him about my credit, credit cards, or finance. JAYDER SALAZAR also gave me a fake money back guarantee which everyone else at Mentoring of America denied after the sale when I wanted a refund. JAYDER SALAZAR simply dissapeared.

Can you tell us why the price is based on people's credit line and why everyone pays a different price for the same thing?

The price for me just so happened to be the same ammount I told JAYDER SALAZAR I had available. Some less, but it was all for the exact same ten 30 minute coaching calls for the John Beck program. Everyone has paid a different price based on how much available credit people had on their credit cards. Can you tell us more about this?

Also, you mentioned that all people need to do is keep calling them and telling them to cancel, and that you are not going to do the program. Well, many people including myself exhausted that approach, and got us no where with Mentoring of America giving us a refund. They tell people who call demanding a refund that they have you recorded on tape agreeing to their terms and conditions. That you cannot get a refund no matter what because all sales are final. That is a lie and they know it and I know it, because the state of Utah does not consider valid any verbal agreements or verbal contracts done over the phone. That's why Mentoring of America sends people who enlist an "Enrollment Confirmation" page in the mail to sign and return, so that they have a signature on file. Even on this "Enrollment Confirmation" page, there is no mention of any no refund or all sales final policy. I still have my original unsigned copy that I never returned to them, yet they still charged me and then refused to issue a refund and cancel.

Filing a complaint with the Utah Division of Consumer Protection is what has gotten several people on this site our full money back, including myself, after Mentoring of America has told us that we won't get a refund no matter what.

Can you tell us anything more that people can do to be able to cancel or receive a refund based on your inside experience that has no already been covered?

Also, what's you take on all the recent lawsuits against Mentoring of America in Utah?

Response

AUTHOR: Hello - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, September 28, 2006

Yes I am an ex-employee. I actually worked there for quite a while, longer than a year. Of course the true victims of this "business" are those who invest their hard earned money. And it is YOUR money even though they say on the phone that you are using "other peoples money." You still have to pay the credit card bills, right? Now it is VERY true that hardly any business is ever started in this country without going into debt for it, the difference with Mentoring of America is that you are led to believe you will have someone there "holding your hand" through the entire process. I bet the guy on the phone even used that exact phrase of holding your hand. I'm veering from the point, sorry. In my personal opinion going into debt to start a business is a necessity unless you are already rich. So these people who invest into this aren't stupid, they don't have the wrong idea, they are simply paying for someone to be there that they believe can help them. The problem is, that person won't be there.

Also, I would guess that 75% of the people that work for Mentoring of America have no idea that they are ripping people off. It is not widely known throughout that coaches will not call people back, etc. The only time we would find out is if somebody who kept our number called us back after coaching sessions. But that was never enough to make you think it was a scam because maybe 1 out of 30 people would keep our numbers, or be able to get in contact with us. Thats why they give you a different number to call, so you can give your problems to customer service, not the guys selling the package. And if only 1 of 30 people called you back, at times we would just think they weren't trynig hard enough, or not fulfilling with what the coach asked. It's unfortunate to have been a part of that.

Also the closers on the floor probably know that it isn't all its cracked up to be, but to be honest, the set up men that I described before, are only told of success stories or people that went out and did a great job with the program. The majority probably really think they are helping people. I thought I was for a long time! But the closers, or in most cases, team leaders that get a commission check on not only their sales, but of the entire team!, help to keep morale high.

Well just a bit more information for you on what goes on there at the floor. If you have a few questions, I'll try to help you out.

Sounds like you used to be an employee.

AUTHOR: Anonymus - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 27, 2006

Hello,

Sounds like you used to be an employee. Is that correct? Can you tell us more about the inside operations of Mentoring of America?

I know for sure that their so called professional coaches are nothing but regular employees they found and hired using General Help Wanted ads in the local Utah newspapers like the "The Daily Herald". They pay these phony coaches what has to be little money, and then charge the people who bought the informecial program thousands to learn from them. The price always varies depending on your available credit. Can you tell us more?

This is only one of the several General Help Wanted ads that Mentoring of America places in local Utah newspapers in the classified section. This is where these phony coaches come from.

This is one of their actual ads used.

General Help Wanted

Mentoring of America LLC

Real Estate Coaching
Inside Sales
Hot Buyer leads / No cold calling
Call: 877-704-6346 ext 4003

People are mislead into paying thousands to learn already free general public knowdlege from some regular person who looked for a job in the classified ads in the first place. They are not professionals or successfull like they are supposed to be teaching you how to become. If they were, they would not be responding to classified ads and workig a job having a boss. They would be doing it themselves.

Just some info....

AUTHOR: Hello - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 27, 2006

You are all very mad at John Beck and Jeff Paul and are blaming them for all this, but the truth is that they are nothing but puppets. This whole industry is completely different than what it appears to be to the general public. And nobody would know this unless you have worked there before.

The true owners of this "business" live in California, and have nothing to do with Utah really. However the main dialing center, or floor, is in American Fork. Its just a huge office building very eerily similiar to the floor in "Boiler Room." Rent it if you haven't seen it. What they do is create an infomercial and find or hire a guy like John Beck, who truly have made money with their system, (but through many years of trial and error) and put in on the tv. The initial packages are nothing more than lead providers. No money is made off those packages in this industry. So like I said, the public believes that John Beck owns this and is selling his package. UNTRUE. ALL money in this business is made through back end sales, also known as upsells.

After ordering the package, a persons name gets added to a list of many, many names that are called by "start up specialists," really just lower chain employees, people not trusted with closing the deal. So these employees of Mentoring of America, (not JOhn Beck or Jeff Paul or Jim Rosen, whatever) find out if someone is even worth talking too. And many of those people who have no credit or savings or anything are crossed off the list, but still go to reprints, which is why many people get called twice even after saying no. But if you do have credit, then begins the whole setup with the talk of coaches and all that.

Then the first person gets off the phone, and gives the news to the closer. Which could honestly be just some dude sitting next to him. I hope you all didn't imagine you were talking to some guy in a suit and tie in his office, he's just another guy on the floor probably in shorts. They then call you and tell you that they are the supervisor in charge of selecting individuals for the coaching program yadda yadda yadda. Then the pitch begins.

Long story short, this business does not belong to anyone you know, it belongs to two men in California named Gary and Doug (from what I remember) that are rich upon rich upon wealthy. They also own phone sex companies, internet sex sites, and other companies that contribute to their riches. Sorry you had to be involved with these people.

One word of advice, if you read this within one week of "investing" with them, call them back and cancel. Don't listen to what they say. Cancel Cancel Cancel. You can do it, I saw it happen many times. These employees get paid weekly so they do all they can to keep the sale on the board through saturday when the week ends. Just call back and tell them you are not going to do it.

Utah Division of Consumer Protection has a history of taking government action against Mentoring of America LLC

AUTHOR: Anonymus - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, September 05, 2006

On October 21, 2004 Mentoring of America, LLC entered into a settlement agreement with the Utah Division of Consumer Protection (the Division). According to the terms of the agreement, Mentoring of America, LLC agreed to pay a fine of $2,000 and comply with all provisions of the Consumer Sales Practices Act and the Telephone Fraud Prevention Act in future consumer transactions in the state of Utah. Mentoring of America, LLC also agreed that within 30 days it would submit a completed application for telemarketing under the Telephone Fraud Prevention Act, and make refunds within ten days in the amounts previously agreed to with the Division to those consumers whose names were previously listed and others whose complaints were pending with the Division of Consumer Protection.

On October 28, 2005 Mentoring of America, LLC entered into a settlement agreement with the Utah Division of Consumer Protection (the Division). According to the terms of the agreement, Mentoring of America, LLC agreed to comply with all requirements of the Utah Consumer Sales Practices Act, Utah Telephone Fraud Prevention Act, Business Opportunity Act and all other laws and rules administered by the Division applicable to them. The company agreed to pay an administrative fine to the Division, and make refunds by December 31, 2005 to consumers referenced in the agreement. The company also agreed to resolve and refund, without Division action, all other consumer complaints similarly situated under the Utah Consumer Sales Practices Act, Utah Telephone Fraud Prevention Act, and Utah Business Opportunity Act that are filed with the Division in the future and that occurred prior to this settlement agreement. The company further agreed to disclose in a clear and conspicuous manner the products and/or services represented in their sales presentations as well as whom will be providing those products and/or services. Nothing in the agreement should be construed as an admission of guilt or liability by Mentoring of America, LLC.

On April 4, 2006 the Utah Division of Consumer Protection (the Division) filed an amended complaint with the Third Judicial District Court of the State of Utah (the Court) against Mentoring of America LLC, John Beck Amazing Profits LLC, and Jeff Paul (MOA). Charges filed indicate MOA breached the settlement agreement dated October 28, 2005 by failing to file the disclosures required to sell assisted marketing plans; honor the three-day right to cancel; and reform its business practices. The complaint indicates that MOA violated the Consumer Sales Practices Act, the Business Opportunity Disclosure Act, and the Telephone Fraud Prevention Act. The Division is seeking: damages and restitution for loss suffered by consumers to date; a fine for breach of the Settlement Agreement; an administrative fine for each deceptive act or practice found to have occurred; and for an order enjoining MOA all acts and practices in violation of the Consumer Sales Practices Act, the Telephone Fraud Prevention Act, and the Business Opportunity Act.

The attorneys for MOA have answered the complaint asking the Court to judge that the Telephone Fraud Prevention Act, the Business Opportunity Act, and the Consumer Sales Practices Act as codified in the Utah Code are unconstitutional and that the complaint be dismissed without prejudice.

Consumer complaints continue to be filed against the company with the Utah Divison of Consumer Protection.

Mentoring of America LLC is currently facing more legal lawsuits in Utah.

Tyler Truman of Mentoring of America is a known fraud for both Jeff Paul and John Beck

AUTHOR: Anonymus - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, September 03, 2006

TYLER TRUMAN is responsible for another person on this site being over $15,000 in credit card debt and stuck with struggling to make huge monthly credit card payments. She came in under John Beck's Free and Clear program. This has put a big financial strain on her, thanks to this same TYLER TRUMAN. TYLER coerced her into enrolling into this same coaching program for John Beck early this year 2006. He gave false staments and failed to deliver on what he told this person she would receive if only she went ahead and signed up a price of $14,695.00. TYLER TRUMAN told her that she would make $14,695 back AND another $20,000 in profit within the first 90 of the program. He is accused of lying, misrepresenting, and failing to deliver what was paid for. Read the complaint here. Copy and paste to your browser.

ripoffreport.com/reports/ripoff208959.htm

TYLER TRUMAN charged this person $14,695.00 and yet he charged Marissa $9,895.00 for the same coaching program done by Mentoring of America LLC out of Utah. TYLER TRUMAN and the sales people at Mentoring of America are known to determine the price of the coaching program based people's credit line available on their credit cards. That's why you see here an almost $5,000 price difference from the two people TYLER TRUMAN himself has cheated all for the same coaching program. I'm sure there's more people we don't know about who have dealt with TYLER TRUMAN. This is the very reason why others on this site have been priced anywhere in the wide range of $1,500 to $15,000 for the same thing. It has no set price. It's based on your credit and fincance and it's fraud.

It's because of unscrupulous employees like TYLER TRUMAN that Mentoring of America has been sued several times just in the last few months. See this news report on Mentoring of America's lawsuits in Utah. Utah Investigator Ao Pauga has recently said that the Utah Divison of Consumer Protection is currently waiting for the outcomes of more new active lawsuits that have been filed against Mentoring of America LLC. YET MORE

One of TYLER TRUMAN's personal friends and employee named Bryan was jailed for insurance fraud last year, after he faked his own death and dissapearance in Utah. He was tracked down and found alive hiding overseas by local authorities. He is responsible for wasting about $20,000.00 of taxpayer's money by misleading local Utah authorities into launching a manhunt looking for him near a local hiking trail, which he told everyone he went to before his absence. All this while he was actually hiding in Queensland, Australia. TYLER TRUMAN lives on 5699 N 2000th W resides in Saint George Utah with wife Cicely. His home number is 435-688-9305. You can see TYLER himself here in this video. It is because of unscrupulous salemen like TYLER TRUMAN that Mentoring of America has been sued more than once just this year alone. TYLER TRUMAN'S employee and friend was jailed and charged with insurance fraud last year. He bought a $250K life insurance policy and then faked his own death and dissapearance. He was tracked down by Utah authorities and found hiding in Queensland, Australia were he secretly fled to.

#3 Consumer Suggestion

John Beck also uses Mentoring of America LLC

AUTHOR: Anonymus - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, August 01, 2006

John Beck, the fraud real estate guru who has his own informercial, also uses Mentoring of America LLC for this bogus 30 minute calls coaching program. They hire these so called coached thorough general help wanted ads in the local Utah paper, and they mislead you into paying thousands of dollars for coaching from these average joes who are nothing more than employees following training scripts and call curriculums to teach you general public knowledge that you can get free online or the library. They set the price of the program based on the available open credit/finance you happen to have. It has no set price. That's why you see a huge variation in price people have paid for the same thing, anywhere from $1,500 to $15,000 or more.

John Beck's peice of gargabe employee named JAYDER SALAZAR (probably a fake name) cheated me out of more that $7,000 by giving me a bunch of high hopes, promises, and a fake 100% money back guarantee. I got every penny back after I filed a complaint againts them with the Utah Division of Consumer Protection. It makes me sick just thinking about the conversations I had with this guy, his lies, and the cold harsh rejections by their people to give me a refund when I called and asked for it.

Utah's Consumer Protection made Mentoring of America send me overnight delivery a hand signed refund check for the full price I was cheated out of. They are taking legal action againts Mentoring of America and conducting an investigation on them, because they continue to violate consumer protection laws.

If that was not enough, at the same time Mentoring of America LLC just got slapped again for the third time with another lawsuit. It's even been on the news.

I'm handing over some tape recorded conversations I recorded with Mentoring of America's people to the Utah investigator for their investigation, as well as their help wanted ads they use to hire their phony coaches in Utah.

After gettin my money back, I tried calling JAYDER SALAZAR, the guy who coerced me into this gargabe by lying to me and giving me a fake 100% money back guarantee, back at the number he gave me to call him at once I became successful. That phone number is no longer in service.

They Lost in the End!!!!

AUTHOR: Marisa - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, February 16, 2006

Basically I didnt have anything to worry about all I really lost was the 29.95 that I initially paid. I tried to get that back but here it is a few months later and Im still fighting with them. They actually tried to charge me several times for the same thing and then had the nerve to send an email saying my card was declined and I need to send them a check for the 29.95, yeah, hold your breath. After I had called my CC companies I waited for 10 days to see if the actual charge showed up on my statement, it never did. Apparently all these thieves did was authorize my card, they needed the two sheets of paper signed in there possession which I wouldnt do. After the thieves called me several times to ask why I wasnt following through, I told them that they were frauds!! They continued to call for a few weeks more but since I had caller ID I new the several 800 numbers that were theirs. These people deal with the desperate and the downtrodden, dont fall for it. Since then I have found that there are alot of other ways to make money but Jeff Paul is not one of them. I dont understand why the FTC allows these crooks to continue to operate they way they do or at all for that matter.

Seems Like you haven't a worry

AUTHOR: Mitch - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, November 13, 2005

For one thing, they didn't charge your card initially and I believe there's a 3 day right to resind (sp?). You did the right thing contacting your credit card company and informing them of the details. It seems to me that you won't have a problem. You acted quickly by contacting the credit card company's dispute departments. Also, point them to this web site and let them read all of the others who have had similar problems. They'll know right off they're a fraud. This happened to me with another company and I worked out for me in the end.
