I fell on hard times and I had to overdraw my account at Neighborhood Credit Union following a layoff from my job and an illness. I kept in touch with Neighborhood Credit Union and made payments when I could even though I was not working. I desperately wanted to keep my account open. I finally found a new job and called up to the bank to notify the bank I would be getting paid on Thursday and making a payment on my account. I only owed $430.00 and I was going to have that paid within 30 days. The collections agent I spoke to was named Ruth Arreola and I told her that I would be making a payment and that I didn't want my account to charge off. She told me to keep my money in my pocket and to pay the balance "AFTER" The account was charged off. This was strange. The bank was actually saying they would reject my payment. So I called back and spoke with a woman who said she was her 'Supervisor' named Tracey or Tracy Smith and the woman said that Ruth was 'mistaken' and that she only said that because my account would charge off by the end of the month. So I asked her what DATE would my account charge off and she would not say. Very strange for a bank to not be able to clearly define what date they would be charging off the account.

So I called back and asked several people could I speak to an Executive. I was frantically trying to save my account. I was continuously transferred from person to person and kept on long hold times. I never could reach an executive. Everyone forwarded me right back to the collections department. Finally I went onto Neighborhood's Facebook page and I recieved a message after notifying them of my concerns that I would be contacted on Monday. Monday I spoke to the Vice President of Member Services named Jennifer Harrison and she was of no help. I explained to her that I got paid on Thursday and that I would go ahead and pay the full balance of what i owed and she interrupted me and said "Oh well, never mind. Your account closes out on Wednesday night. I couldn't believe it. She knew I got paid on Thursday and I asked her "well, ma'am, can you give me until Thursday to pay the balance and she said "Nope". How Rude. I had received lies and intimidation and constantly revolving dates of closure. Come to find out the bank without notifying me told me that they had closed my account weeks earlier.

The thing that made me so hot was when I spoke with Ms. Jennifer Harrison, the VP she LAUGHED after telling me that m y account would be charged off the NIGHT BEFORE I WAS PAID. What was funny about that? She seemed to take enjoyment in that. I think these people at Neighborhood Credit Union are EVIL. First of all they PUSHED the LOAN on me. It turned out to be a PREDATORY LOAN with PREDATORY INTEREST RATES and I had told them I didn't want it but they kept pushing it and made it seem like it was the only way to take care of my balance. They KNEW my job situation was PRECARIOUS but offered no other way to help me resolve my account other than a PREDATORY LOAN. FINE.

But why would they change the date of chargeoff from the end of the month to the day BEFORE I WAS PAID after I so happened to have filed a series of complaints? This was weird. I beleive these people were acting VINDICTIVELY.

This is an UNETHICAL BANK. VERY UNETHICAL AND DIRTY. The Vice President of Neighborhood Credit Union Jennifer Harrison found it FUNNY when I BEGGED to be able to make the entire payment on Thursday and INTENTIONALLY PUSHED FORWARD THE DATE BY ONE DAY to HURT MY CREDIT FOR SEVEN YEARS. PLEASE BE CAREFUL OF THESE PEOPLE.
