Purchsed a Westie Puppy from this lady on 4/18/15, Saturday.  Had 48 hours to take it to the vet for a vet check.  Couldn't take her on Sunday as vet is closed.  Took her on Monday.  Found out this puppy has Coccidia, a protozzoa infection in her intestines.  Also has a hernia and the vet said she's not maturing properly for her age, still had all her baby teeth.  Emailed the breeder.  Coccidia is highy contagious and spreads through contact with infected feces or tissue.  The breeder told me it was from all the rain we had.  Rain is not contaminated with coccidia.  If one puppy has it there will be others that have it.  She claims they are vet checked and health is guaranteed for one year.  If they were checked by a vet the vet should have caught the hernia.  If she knew about the hernia she never told us, that' deceptive.  She keeps telling me the puppy is not sick. I did get a health record of her shots and wormings.  The last time she wormed the puppy was 4/14, four days before I bought this puppy, but, coccidia is not a worm, it's a one celled protozoa, it can't be killed it has to be controlled by stopping it's reproduction ability.  So, if I hadn't had the vet check her for worms, even though she said she was wormed four days prior to purchase, I would never have know she has a coccidia protozoa in her intestines.  If left untreated it progresses to bloody stool, can invade other organs, even the brain, of the body and the puppy could have died and I would never have known why.  Then she told me I didn't take the puppy to the vet within 48 hours, then it was I emailed her, I didn't call her.  I emailed for a reason, so I'd have a record of what transpired.  She never showed us the kennel, never showed us the parents.  She said she had a female that was ready to welp and having trouble and had to get to the vet.  She later claims the puppy died.  She offered to give me my money back but under conditions.  I had to have it back by 8 pm on Thursday, April 23.  I drove a total of 10 hours to buy this puppy.  I think since she sold me a sick puppy she should pay for it to be shipped back or come and get it and also pay my vet bill because I had to pay for meds to get this puppy healthy.  She breeds 19 different dogs.  As highly contagious as this coccidia is, I'm sure more puppies have it and she's selling them as healthy puppies.  So this "healthy vet checked puppy" has a highly contagious case of coccidia, a hernia and is not maturing properly.  If I send this puppy back she will sell it to someone else.  I've asked for copies of the vet visit to prove she's taken them to the vet for a checkup, I've yet to recieve it.  I also have tons of emails between us about this.  If anyone is interested I'll be happy to share.

She wants a copy of what my vet found.  I will be getting that today and emailing it to her since I don't have a fax machine.

Also, the AKC registration papers are pre-filled out by her.  That eliminates the possibility of getting the pedigree for both parents.  She also sells with limited registration.  That means if your puppy has a litter they can not be AKC registered.  She never mentioned that to me, just quoted me a price of $900.00.  Also, I've learned that the AKC now allows a litter to be registered when that litter has two different fathers.  The male of this puppy has a DNA number after it's name.  I called the AKC to see what that means.  It means that daddy is the parent of this puppy which tells me that there was the possibility of this litter have at least two different fathers.

She only accepts cash.  So inorder to buy this puppy I had to deposit a Credit Card check on one day then cash a personal check on the next so I had the cash to pay for the puppy.

AUTHOR: Jerrie cobb - (USA)

POSTED: Saturday, May 30, 2015

I am a registered breeder in the state GA, and have been for 25+ years. I am inspected by the state every year and have been inspected this year more than once because of this and have passed every time. I am a very reputable breeder and am highly reguarded amongst my customers.

All my puppies are rgistered with either AKC/CKC/DB. I have the right as a breeder to limit my paperwork because i sell my puppies to be part of your family not to be used as breeders. If my customers are not happy with their dogs they have 48 hrs to bring them back to get their money or another dog. i do not want my dogs to stay in a home where they will be miss treated. This customer was offered her money back plus gas money and refused to bring the puppy back.

All my puppies are vet checked. Her puppy was checked by the vet and the vet said the puppy was very healthy and was growing fine for her age and was just a smaller westie. At 8 weeks I treat all my puppies for the different types of parasites that they could pick up while weaning off the mom. She had two puppies to choose from and she looked at both of them very close and played with them and she chose that one. I require everyone to read and sign a contract which she did that states that you can bring the dog back if you are not satisfied. I do not understand why this is such an issue when she read and signed the contract. I even allowed her five extra days to bring it back, and im still being harrassed as of today.
