Ok its my fault for trusting them.  Refundable tickets are triple the price.   I bought a refundable ticket and cancelled.  Refund was placed as a "credit" to my account.  (I stupidly did not ask for cash).  The account "expires" after 13 months.  Went to book travel on the cash I lent them interest free for a year and they said it "expired" the day before.  The day before.  Customer service said they were sorry about it.

Take the cash.

I didn't miss the point - YOU missed the boat.

You lost your job AFTER you asked them to give you a credit instead of taking cash. What does that have to do with your post? The title of your initial post is, "Jet Blue No refund on refundable ticket - they kept the money" which by your own admission is WHOLLY UNTRUE. The fact that you changed your mind as to how you wanted your refund a month later and they could/would not accomodate you does not mean you were not refunded. You had a choice, and in hindsight made the wrong one. This is now JetBlue's responsibility?

"I didn't wait a year to act.  But eevn if I did - so what?" This is exactly the attitude to which I am referring. So what? Do you really think the company has to wait forever for you to take advantage of their offers? What if everyone decided to do that? The company has to tie up their money waiting for people to decide to take a trip YEARS later? Does this make sense to you?

"I followed the rules." How can you say in one breath you followed the rules, then say in the next that you didn't know you had a time limit on taking advantage of the refund? How can you know some of the rules, but not all of them? Pretty convenient, don't you think?

I am certain that you did know the rules, and you followed the ones you WANTED to follow, and then expected the company to take it on the chin when you wanted to fly AFTER they expired. Pretty interesting coincidence that you happened to call the day after your refund expired to take advantage of it, especially since you had called the month after it was issued to try to get it changed to a cash refund. No refund rules were discussed during that call?

Maybe you knew the date and tried to push it, or forgot it was coming up and missed it by a day, but to have NO knowledge of the date and happen to call the day after seems TOO coincidental to me.

I find it difficult to believe that they NEVER informed you there was a time limit on redeeming your credit. Regardless, in spite of your claim to the contrary, you WERE issued a refund on your refundable ticket. Still no rip off here.

You missed the point

Actually, I lost my job a month later and asked them to refund the credit or even let me buy pionts.   They said no.  I didn't wait a year to act.  But eevn if I did - so what?

This was a fully refundable ticket.  I paid 600 instead of 200 for the right to get my money back.  I followed the rules.

They dont tell you that it will expire after 12 months until after the transaction.

I admited I was wrong to buy a fully refundable ticket and then not take the cash.

They were wrong not to fully inform that a cash credit expires and that you can not change your mind.

No rip off - YOU waited over a YEAR!

Not only is there NO rip off here, not only is it your, "...fault for trusting them...", but by your own words they did IN FACT issue you a credit, so your report is a total lie!  Yes, you probably should have asked for cash considering it took you so long to try to use the credit, however, you didn't seem to so concerned about getting your money back until now.

You further admit to waiting over ONE YEAR to try using this credit, and it's the COMPANY'S fault??? Who is going to believe that, your friends and family? If you said the next day, week or month you tried to use the credit and it had already expired, then you might have a case. But 13 months later? Sorry, pal. No rip off. Just another consumer who screwed themselves and now wants someone else to blame. Grow up and take some responsibility for your (in)actions.
