Jiffy Lube (Lucor Corporate Office)

790 Pershing Rd, Raleigh, NC 27608

Attn: Michael Davis

Vice President

Mr. Davis,

On May 8th my daughter brought her car to your establishment to get an oil change.  I will insert her statement in which when she left your establishment and drove to her grandmother’s house about twenty minutes later, there showed a spill underneath the car that her grandmother pointed out to her in the driveway (which was a puddle)..  We are asking that your corporation do the right thing by consumer standards and that is to correct this wrong that apparently someone that works in the establishment has done.  Triple AAA has whom has the car now in their shop has reported that there is engine damage and no reports of a oil leak(a minor valve leakage, but nothing that could cause engine damage;per Larry) or any other leak that was written on the invoice from Jiffy Lube.  I don’t want to have to take drastic measure; however, this is going on one week that my daughter will be out of her transportation that is used for work and school.  If Jiffy Lube was not covering up anything wrong why hasn’t an incident report been done and why did the gentlemen that came to the car and filled up her oil try to insist that she put the oil in the car.  These are many questions that relevant and it doesn’t add up.  We are asking that your establishment makes this right, Mr. Davis.

The following is direct statement from my daughter on the incident:

At around 6:50pm I pull into J.clyde Jiffy Lube to get an oil change. 4 male workers come from the back of the building from smoking to assist me. One of the workers then comes to my car and ask what do I need help with today and I said, I needed an oil change. He then drives my car into the shop. I go inside with my friend to wait. Approximately 5 minutes later one of the workers comes inside the building to get the payment. He tells me next time I visit, I should get a new filter. I then call my father to pay over the phone. The worker tells my dad that I have a minor oil leak but its nothing too serious to worry about at this time. My father then pays credit over the phone. At approximately 7:00pm I then go to my car and one worker opens my door so I can get in and another worker is on the passenger side of my car holding open the door for my friend. We then get in the car and the worker on the passenger side is still holding open the door asking inappropriate questions to my friend, like how old she was. She had to forcefully close the door while answering 20. We then leave and head to my grandmother’s house and I am there close to an hour and 30 minutes. As I pull off she points out that It was a liquid substance on the ground. I leave and for about a mile down the road I hear a really loud rattling noise. I was really scared so I drove 5mph under the speed limit. I was questioning if it was rattling this loud and I didn't notice before going to Jiffy Lube. So I turn up my music to see if the music would over power the rattling noise, and it didn't so around 9:15pm I pull into a parking lot to try and figure out what was going on. I turn off my car and call my father and he tells me to leave my car and call Jiffy Lube in the morning. 15 minutes later a man pulls up to help me while I am waiting. I told him everything and he pulls out the oil stick wipes the oil stick, inserts it back in and pulls it back out to show me it is no oil in my car repeating this in a total of 2 more times. He then slide under my car and says they must have forgotten to put the cap on or something and he wasn't sure. So he made sure I was ok and If I needed a ride. I told him no and he left. I make sure everything was ok before leaving, locking my car door and taking out everything I needed before leaving my car

The next morning around 8:47am I call Jiffy Lube with my father on the other line and tell the manager everything that happened and the location of my car. The manager tells me that when I get a chance to get back to my car call him and he will send someone out to see what is wrong. I call back around 2:20pm to let the manager know that I will be pulling up to my car shortly. When I start to pull up, I notice that my hood was already up which was weird because I felt like they should have waited until I have arrived there to open my hood. The problem with my hood is that it sometimes doesn't close shut. So I knew they easily lifted my hood. When I get out of the car I notice a half empty oil canister next to my car and two men then get out of a truck to assist me with Jiffy Lube work clothes on. One says this is the guy that was working on your car. They tell me to start up my car and I cut it off after a few seconds of the very loud rattling. The man that worked on my car then says, “this is weird because her car wasn't rattling like this when she pulled up talking to the other worker.” He then pulls out the oil stick to show me that it is oil in the car. I tell them I don't how it is oil in the car because a man helped me check the previous night and it was no oil in the car. They both ask did I put oil in the car before parking and I tell them no. They keep asking and called the manager and he tells them to rev the engine every few minute which I thought was a bad idea but the worker insisted that I do it. When I got into my car he told me to start my car and rev the engine and the car is rattling really loud and after about 10 seconds he tells me to turn off the car. At that point he calls back and tells me that I can take it to any shop and if it turns out to be there fault then they will pay for the damages.  I then call AAA to tow my vehicle. The 2 Jiffy Lube workers get in the car and ask if im ok before leaving. An hour later a tow truck comes and I follow it to AAA car care center to give my information.
