After taking my car to Jiffy Lube in Rolling meadows to prepare for a long trip and while on that trip my rear end froze up. When the car was towed to the Ford dealer they called me out to see that the rear differintial fill plug was not there. I was on the road about 300 miles away from home with no way to call Jiffy Lube so I rented a car and authorized Ford to fix my car, The bill in total was over $4000.00.

Jiffy lube regional manager was supposed to contact me he didn't, so I contacted him, faxed all the bills to him and he was supposed to get back to me. To date he has not returned my calls nor have they responded to the BBB inquiries.

It has been over 2 month's now and I will be filling suit against them but the Heartland Automotive group who owns this and many other Jiffy Lubes are in bankrupst so I don't know if I will get anything for a while if ever.

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

What you can do.

AUTHOR: Ted Jefferson - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, July 30, 2009

If you contacted the locations manager and they did nothing I advise requesting the district managers phone number. Contact them and explain the situation, I have seen some district managers that care only about sales and numbers and I have seen some that actually care about the customer and their vehicle, those those are more rare.

If the district manager does not produce desired results or unwilling to assist, contact the Franchise headquarters. This can be done through either phone or through the Jiffy Lube Website. When you do contact them be factual, I know having your car ruined by people who claim to be professionals is VERY un-nerving, but being angry and hostile will give the company a way to spin the problem around and some how make you look bad. A lawyer is a good idea as they will make sure you are aware of your rights and such.

I would also file a report with the BBB. Jiffy Lube has a training software that each employee should have completed to match their job position. Therefore if the tech. left a drain plug loose or did not install it at all, they should be subject to a drug test. In addition to such they did not properly complete the quality inspection. It can be said that a rear differential plug is not part of that quality inspection and that may be true, however it is still the obligation of that tech to ensure that all drain plugs are tight before the vehicle leaves the bay area.

Needless to say I would not recommend returning there not only due to the improper repair but also the lack of assuming responsibility for the error and for the lack of good customer service.

Please keep us updated on how the situation plays out.

Ted
