AUTHORS BEWARE: Bogus Book Marketing Service

Jim Kukral is an internet marketer for writers, but the services he provides may be misleading. On his website http://www.digitalbooklaunch.com, Mr. Kukral lists authors who have purportedly used his service before (Ref. http://www.digitalbooklaunch.com/bookmarketing/ under What Our Customers Say...).

I took a little time to research these authors and see the amazing things that Mr. Kukral was doing for them. This is what I found:

- Rachel Honoway, author of Toxic Culture: Toxic Culture 8 Delusions About Company Culture That Could Poison Your Startup
This book does not exist except for linking to Mr. Kukral's blog in SEO articles across the internet (and it only links back in name; the book cannot be found anywhere). The book is not for sale on Amazon or Barnes & Noble or anywhere else. It is possible that this book is not out on the market and could be pending; however, for the author not to speak of this book at all is suspicious. The only information that could be found about Rachel Honoway is that she is also an internet marketing guru.

- Sarah Arrow and Warren Cass, authors of Zero to Blogger
I couldn't find this one on any retailer website either. It's represented as a book, but it appears to be some kind of internet seminar series. I couldn't find the book on Amazon or Barnes & Noble or anywhere else. They appear to be internet marketing gurus.

- Brian C. Newman, author of Standing Strong in a Weak Economy
I couldn't find anything about this book, yet the testimonial claims, "Digital Book Launch was instrumental in helping me get started with the book marketing process right away. Their cover design was the catalyst in getting my marketing plan started and provided the motivation to make my book a reality." The book does not exist. I could not find it on Amazon or Barnes & Noble or anywhere else.

- Allan Macdonald, author of Effective Golf Practice
Book is not available from any retailer. Apparently, there is an Allan Macdonald connected to the sport of golf (source: Google search), but he makes no reference to a book by this title. Mr. Macdonald claims on his testimonial: "Digital Book Launch really helped me get the book marketing process started in the best possible fashion, with an eye-catching cover to help my book stand out in a crowded marketplace." Mr. Macdonald need not worry; compared to a book cover, a non-existant book is a bigger problem in standing out in a crowded marketplace.

The price of Mr. Kukral's services is $1,495.00, due before the marketing is performed. It would seem that Mr. Kukral has yet to prove that he has any experience in actually selling a book. AUTHORS BEWARE.
