Channel 8 news out of Tampa has been running a series on Jim Walter HOmes. The are being conducted by Steve Andrews their cheif investigative reporter. My wife and I were intervied in sgement 4. We asked that it was time for the authorities to get involved. Apparently it worked Mr. Andrews met with Charlie Christ the state attorney general who is opening and investigation against Jim Walters.

I suggest all of you Florida victims contact Charlie Christ with your stories. You can also watch the videos of the reports at tbo; click the link videos and look for the sereis homes on hold.

After being interviewed Mr. Andrews asked Jim Walters people about my house. Suprisingly work got started right away. The dug the footers and set the rebar only to fail the first inspection. They came back fixed the problems and caled for a re-inspection. While waiting on the inspector they had the cement truck also waiting. They were told the cement had sat too long and they told the inspector they would get another truck load.

The inspector doubled back and caught them using the first truck. He again failed the inspection and may have fined them $5,000. However they continued to pour from the first truck and finsished with two more truck loads. Now I have a poured footer that failed inspection and will either have to be presure tested or ripped out. More delays I'm sure.

For you folks in other states get to your elected officials. Direct them to the Florida investigation and request them to start their own. Walter Industries is a wealthy company. THey just spent 1.9 billion dollars buying another company. THat's right I said billion. However they are in trouble with thei home building division and may likely be looking to spin it off. We need to protect our investments now.
