JK Harris & Company, Company is Fraud Goose Creek, South Carolina

I went through the whole initial consultation with JK, meeting in person and all that jazz. The next step according to the tax professional was to pay an extraordinary amount of money up front before any sort of work had even been done, which I did.  Provided them with all the information they needed and started a monthly payment that was higher than my car payment.  Struggle to make this payment every month, to the point where I almost defaulted on my mortgage. 

The 1st case worker assigned to my case, was always loosing my paperwork and ended having to do everything return receipt.  Didn't hear from them for over a year, had no response to my calls or emails.   Finally got a package telling me they had settle with IRS and that I needed to start paying on January 31 of that year 2,018 a month (I got the package on January 25th) until I was paid off.  However, they neglected to tell me what the settlement amount was.   I called them and told them the amount was more than what my husband and I were bringing home.  

No response.   Send them back the package with a letter requesting a new review and details of the settlement.   No response.   Called again, no response.  Send an e-mail and then was informed that the case worker was no longer there and they couldn't find my paperwork.  At this point I had already paid them closed to $5,000.  So when they asked for all my paperwork again - I went through the whole process of getting it together again.   Then when I was done and sent in the paperwork, I get a phone call that they found it and had assinged a new case worker.  

The new case worker worked on my case for about six months and then sent me a new package, or so she said because I never got it.  Called and sent various emails for a good 6 months with no responses.   Then I get a letter from IRS that they received a letter from JK Harris and that as of June (almost 3 years later) they were no longer representing me.   I called everyday hourly for a week and never received a call back.   Finally got a hold of someone and she indicated my case had been closed because of my lack of responding to their request and that they had sent me a Certified Letter notifying me of this. 

Again never received such a letter.  But that they would be happy to reopen my case for an additional $4,000 dollars and I could make monthly payments.   At this point IRS is asking for payment, so I contact a local attorney in my area that charge me $3,500 and help me with my IRS issue.   In less than 2 months he settled with IRS and arrange for me to pay $500 a month for the next 2 years.  No lien or garnishments.  

I request a refund of what they had charge me and they refused my request.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS with this company.  Check the BBB and you'll see they are full of complaints and have been sued in Texas for misleading and not delivering what is promised.   I hope someone in Florida wants to do the same.

This company just takes advantage of the necessity of the people that calls them and rips off their hard earned money.   Why they are still in business and have not been shut down is beyond me.
