My wife is a frequent watcher of HGTV and particularly enjoyed and reespected Joanna Gaines. Thus, when we learned on the internet of a promotion for both skin and eye care she was interested in trying the "risk free samples." The samples only cost was shipping and the product was "100% guaranteed. She signed up to receive the samples.
We then received the first two shipments promptly followed by two others in August. She opened the boxes and then were suprised when reviewing our Visa credit charges in September. There were two skin care charges for $89.84 and one eye care charge of $84.97. Thinking there had been some mistake I called a number behind the charge and got an answering service and no satisfaction. I asked whether she was speaking for both companies and was told she was (although the conversation was difficult). I told her we no longer wished to recieve their product, that she should cancel future orders, and that I didn't expect additonal charges. The three charges were paid.
The following month there were two more charges. I'd lost track of how many shipment my wife had opened but that since she hadn't returned them we thought it wasn't worth the time and effort to protest and paid the charges again. I did attempt to contact the company directly but they don't appear to have a company name or contact address.
Today, Oct 19 we received yet another shipment but will promptly return it and intend to protest any charge.
We were victims of false advertising but admit making mistakes in opening and not returning the shipments and not contesting the charges. No more. Our complaints can be summarized as follows:
1. We were never informed of how much would be charged for either product and the charges are excessive.
2. We were charged for the "risk free samples."
3. There is no company name on the shipments. only a POBox return address. Without their name there is no way of contacting them directly.
4. A suspicious identical promotion appears for several similar products that appear to be relabled.
5. After two months there is no apparent result from product use.
6. The 100% guarantee is a farce.
