Truth is that anyone who desires to break into modeling does not need to spend tons of money for classes.

Just locate a REPUTABLE talent agency in your city, make an appointment, or send in snapshots. The majority of these agencies do not want professional photos to begin with. They will be honest and tell an applicant whether or not they can use them. Doesn't mean he or she is not attractive, just not suited for the work they may specialize in.

A reputable agency will recommend a number of professional photographers to make head shots and/or a tac sheet. A REPUTABLE agency will tell you to not spend over a certain amount for photos; 250-400 depending on age.

A REPUTABLE Talent agent will also advise not to spend money on anything but photo/ head shots with your info added that you will give to them in order to find work for you. If they find someone who they think might be interested in hiring you, they set up an appointment for a "Go-See."

Agencies do not make any money until you make money.

You don't need to pay anyone for training. Photographers will work with you. Even in runway jobs, the designers, coordinators, etc. work with you.
It's mostly OJT.

My child modeled and was signed with one of the most reputable agencies in the state.

You do however have to beat the pavement, give your shots to more than one agency, stay in contact with that agency. Modeling is work... and not a piece of cake, but if you really have what agencies are looking for, it does not require giving away all of your money to "Be a model, or just look like one"

With respect to Rhonda, I can't possibly imagine anyone pressuring me into making a compulsive buying decision considering that the purchase is going to cost several thousand dollars.

You said that your first impressions were right. What were your first impressions? Did you think you shouldn't have spent the money JRP asked from you? If so, then why did you spend the money in the first place? I here all these words like "scam" "rip-off" ect. It's really quite simple; we are a performing arts academy that focuses specifically on the professional training, personal development, and marketing of people who are pursing the entertainment industry. Now, like any other product or service in life there is a price to pay. If you don't like the price THEN DON'T PAY THE MONEY!!!

Let me ask you something; how could you possible determine that JRP was not a wise investment within 72 hours? Did you do extensive research? Did you learn of all the success stories John Robert Powers is responsible for? Or did you visit this website and read about all the upset clients who are not famous yet, even though they haven't even completed a workshop? What ever your first impression were they don't stop the fact that there are people JRP helped start in this business who were the face of Hollywood and have more money than some nations. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that training yourself in whatever craft it is you are trying to develop is helpful. That marketing yourself is going to give you an edge over everyone else. If it were about you not wanting to spend money than that's one thing, but please don't put it off like it's because JRP just didn't deserve your money. I think the price is reasonable for the services received.

As for Glen, I would like to know why specifically you think that JRP is a rip off. Because classes there were more expensive than classes at Barbizon? So I guess if you find another school cheaper than Barbizon, then Barbizon is a rip off too. Have you considered the fact that Barbizon does not market its clients on a constant and consistent basis? That makes a huge difference in the over all effect of the service provided and why there is such a price difference. I can't tell you how many people I speak to who had terrible experiences with Barbizon. Not to discredit them in any way. They do offer great classes in a wide range of subject relating to personal development, and the entertainment industry. As for your friend, if my parents spent thousands of dollars on classes and I had the audacity to fall asleep in them I'm sure they would be upset. Not learning anything because of bad teaching is one thing, but not learning because your asleep well is of coarse something else.

As a director for a JRP studio in Florida I signed kids just a little over a month ago, with no confidence, or direction, and in the short period of time we have had them they are already signed with agents. I just got word two days ago that three of my kids landed a commercial. They have not been with us even two months. It only works if you stick it though, most people don't start doing things so quickly. You say rip off, but I know different because I have seen the results of my clients, and my own experience with JRP as a student.

JRP is a rip off. I went to JRP and got signed up for the 6 month program for a rediculous amount of money and the next day I went to Barbizon found out I could get a lifetime deal with Barbizon for HUNDREDS less than what JRP was offering for 6 months.

My mom sent the cancellation letter, they gave her some bull excuse about how they didn't get the letter until after the 3 day period. So she cancelled the check or the transfer because she doesn't use checks and used her checking card. She got her money back and used the money for JRP for Barbizon and put the money she saved to good use.

I had a friend and she signed up for JRP and I didn't even know. She said that their so called 'classes' all they did was sit there and they got to go to sleep.

A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY!
