Joyce Hykes POOR QUALITY QUILTS BEWARE !! Newark Ohio

 Beware of quilter.. I ordered several quilts to be made as gifts for Christmas, not only does this lady not take pride in her work, but she also does not have any customer satisfaction guaranty/warranty... I was given a quilt folded nicely in a quilt bag and at the time of delivery, and was told she had to make a few stitches because her sewing machine had pulled apart the stitches on the top piece of the quilt ... Not only was I not satisfied with her quality of workmanship, and I had told her I was not happy with the repairs she made and in fact it was unacceptable to give as a gift.., she made no attempt to make it right until I asked and offered some type of compensation for a new one to be made.. I don't feel like I should have to negotiate a price for another to be made when I paid for quality work, and upfront, in full before the quilt was made & delivered.. After she finally agreed to replace the one quilt & repair a second quilt that was also made at the same time, that too had not been quality, she had suggested I bring back the original quilt & that I provide my material once again for a new one to be made.., I told her I didn't think it was fair that she had not only took my money but also wanted the quilt back with materials that cost 70-80.00 and was not willing to reimburse me for the material replacement or costs & also wanted the old quilt.. Really not sure what her intentions were on keeping the old quilt, but I felt as if I was once again negotiating with replacement costs of lost material and giving her 70-80.00 worth of material... She then suggested that she would not pay the costs of material and she would then repair both instead of replace the one that was not repairable ... Her ideal of repairing it in the first place was to sew embroidery designs to cover 9, 5-8 inch areas that she had tried to sew over top of quilting stitches..., I informed her that I didn't ask for an embroidered blanket to be made, I asked for and paid for a quilt to be made.. This woman takes NO PRIDE in her work, and collects materials/money(paid in full) upfront, her delivery is sneaky and is done in a way that the items cannot be closely inspected to see what kind of quality she's delivered .. Do NOT TRUST THIS LADY ! She is a dishonest quilter, I felt as if I was lied to about the condition of the quilt and when I told her I was not satisfied she acted as if she had no commitment in making things right... She charges the same prices as any other quilter, and does not take pride in the work she does...
