J&S Autohaus, its Owner, Jean Saliba, and General Manager Melvin, perpetrated fraud, and misreprestation of their sale of a 2006 Audi A8 in may of 2010. i bought the car from Ca. after looking at the Autotrader ad, and the car was indicated to be perfect in every way, a frontline automobile with 24,929 miles. i purchased the car through my Audi dealership in california, and anxiously awaited delivery. When the car arrived 3 weeks later, it had major body damage, and some minor body damage, all verified and signed off on by the shipper's bill of lading, by Melvin and the trucker. the front dam was completely missing, the tires and brakes were so poor that they did not pass the California Safety Certification, and required new tires and all new brakes, plus an ABS braking module. The Audi had 27,232 miles on the odometer. Reconditioning costs to me were 3200.00. For months i have asked for restitution from the owner, but he has dodged me and avoided me at every instance, in hopes that i will go away. But i will not. I have contacted the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission, and the California and New Jersey Consumer Affairs Office, and registered Official Complaints with both entities. I am in the process of having J&S Autohaus served with papers that i am suing them. I will have to fly out from CA. to NJ. at my expense, but i will not let them get away with this.

The internet is fraught with complaints about this company, its owner, and many of the sales employees.

The car buying experience is the worst game in town, at best, and when you get involved with fraud, misrepresentation, and crooks, it is even worse.

I want you all to know who this organization is, from the Owner, who condones illegal sales techniques, and then refuses to make it right, right down through the General Manager, Melvin, who is a bald-faced liar and cheat, through the sales people. The only decent person i ever talked to in the organization is their Finance Manager.

"The Worst Game In Town???

AUTHOR: Jim - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, October 10, 2010

Here's your direct statement:  "The car buying experience is the worst game in town...the internet is fraught with complains...".

If you actually think buying a used car, even at the local level is so bad, then why in the hell did you throw common sense in the dumpster to buy a used car sight unseen on the internet???

Should dealers represent their cars accurately?  Absolutely...positively!  Should consumers exercize COMMON SENSE in the car buying process?  Absolutely...positively!

COMMON SENSE dictates the buyer looks over the outside of the car for obvious physical defects as the car is parked in front of that buyer.

COMMON SENSE dictates the buyer goes inside the car to check out the interior for obvious defects as the car is parked in front of that buyer.

COMMON SENSE dictates the buyer takes the car on a test drive to try out all accessories and necessities and guage an idea of how the car runs.

COMMON SENSE dictates the buyer has his/her own mechanic check over the car.

COMMON SENSE dictates the buyer reviews the mechanic's findings and then makes an offer to the seller taking into account the nature of any defects found.

The bottom line here is you threw common sense out the window to buy a car you've never seen, didn't test drive or have your own mechanic check out.  When we throw common sense out the window, we take on all responsibility and consequences.
