I signed up for a FREE trial for the Julep Maven Boxes back in 2013 (would have wrote sooner but didnt know about this website. I actually signed up for two free trials, one for myself and one for my mother. It is a monthly service where they send you makeup products. So it was $5 for shipping for each of the "free samples". It states no where on the page i would be billed furst, no where the return/ cancellation policy.

I received my free boxes and never thought to cancel the subscription since I had only signed up for the free trial. Then the next month I got charged $30 PER BOX (total $60) for boxes I did not want or order. Yes I do realize this may have been my error and naivety in not cancelling the subscription or realizing they would still charge me once they had my credit card number.

However when I contacted customer service they told me that i could NOT return the boxes even though they were unopened. When I told them I canceled my subscription they said that it was too late and subscriptions could only be canceled certain days of the month and once the shipments are sent, nothing can be done. They would not refund my money. I am still very angry about this situation, years later.

Sites like "Like a coupon" are always promoting Julep and their "free" trials but I think that consumers should be warned that this company has ridiculous policies and scams customers. The nailpolish I received in the boxes was not good quality. It was thick and lumpy and I threw them all out.
