On January 11th, I hired Julian Miller, a self-proclaimed expert in CMS/Joomla, to make clean installs for two websites that I manage, and in good faith, I paid him a $200 advance to begin working. On January 13th, he e-mailed me claiming that he would begin to "implement fixes all tonight!" I wrote to him a few days later to enquire as to why no work had been done, and he replied, "Big changes to be implemented in the next 2 days." On January 25th, when nothing was done, I wrote to ask for a refund, and on January 26th, he responded that "I duplicated the installation from ftp to work without disturbing your production site." He added, "Let's touch base tomorrow..." I tried calling, but he never answered my calls. On January 28th Julian Miller said, "We missed each other again...i think we do need...fresh installs of everything...to ensure...that it works 100% of the time."

I have also been ripped off by Julian Miller

He is not to be trusted. He promised me a website and didn't deliver. I paid him on a Saturday with a promise for a first design by Monday. It wasn't until 9 days later I got 1 jpg. that was all wrong. It's like he didn't listen to what I wanted.
His contract also promises a "live" version within 7 days. I never got it. After 32 days of excuse after excuse, I put in a dispute with Paypal.
Paypal won't refund you if you purchased a virtual transaction so I lost. Julian still hasn't refunded my $880.
He also goes by "Julian Anthony Miller" so please do your homework before hiring him.

If you are going to lie, do your homework

My client is an exceptional young man who was essentially wrestled away from soap for a corporate job. We worked long and hard to get coverage like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dcimcEQ3TLs and this http://www.louisvilleblogs.com/?cat=1344 . He built his company up from nothing and I am glad i was able to help craft his online presence. The reason he had a good experience with me is because he read his contract like a professional and did his part. It's sad that people who weren't professional enough to do the same would attempt to discredit a pinnacle of hard work like Jim Gregory.

Definitely a Fraud

I've done some research and Julian Anthony Miller definitely appears to be a fraud. Also, the rebuttal that backs him up seems to be fraudulently fabricated as well. I went to grandmagees.com and that is the opposite of a labor intensive site. The site claims to sell custom-flavored soaps, anywhere from beer flavored to strawberry flavored. The only buy option is a $50 bar of soap and when one actually tries to buy it, one cannot. This site is not meant for revenue, I'm willing to bet it has absolutely no traffic, and it is nothing more than smoke and mirrors. This happens to be the same with just about every other site in Julian Anthony Miller's portfolio. I know because I've gone and looked at these sites that Julian has in his portfolio and saw them for myself. Want to see it? Google "Julian Anthony Miller" and his page will be the first page that comes up. Click on his portfolio and actually search for some of his pages. I shamelessly proclaim to the rest of the world that Julian Anthony Miller is a thief, and I hope he gets brought to justice.

Superior Quality Service: The Van Rock Group

The Van Rock Group and Julian Miller has provided my company www.grandmagees.com with superior service. We've undergone 3 updates so far and Julian has been flawless in his delivery and professionalism. I have a labor intensive business and I am a full time college student. I don't have time to deal with managing much of my online content. Julian Miller has gone above and beyond regular service to me and my company to position my company with a strong internet presence. The account of this report seems highly out of character for the person that I worked with. Julian did report to me earlier this year that he did have a sinus infection and there was a small interruption in our communication, but our dialogue continued promptly after he recovered.

Rebuttal

Mr. Monda is correct when he first starts out. There was a lag time due to medical circumstances. An unfortunate circumstance that I had no control over. But that is where the truth ends. Mr Monda wrote this because he asked for a refund which he was not entitled to.
Mr. Monda was instructed (as are all clients) that while I'm working on their site there is under no circumstances to be another person with administrative rights working at the same time. He agreed and yet less than an hour into my work when I had only installed the new template and I noticed another admin working. This is when something in his site broke. Mr. Monda blames me though I tracked my changes and in fact did start working on my own server since it was clear he wouldn't follow directions.
Any web professional will tell you that if you "break" your site, you will have to pay hourly to have it restored. I didn't charge him for the two days I searched through his site to find out what he or his employee may have done.
I backed up Mr. Monda's site and did a fresh install and per his instruction installed all his existing components and modules with the only 2 changes to be Yoogallery from yootheme (a change from phoca) and jbolo chat from comet chat. Mr. Monda did not tell me that he expected me to track down all the newest versions of all the components and modules and (a task which would have been FAR more expensive than the original quote)
After yelling at me and slamming the phone in my ear twice (once to think about it and twice to "lock me out" ) He wrote me an e-mail asking for a partial refund. I did not grant it because I had done the work to specification and included this search for the source of the 500 error and it was Mr. Monda who was not specific enough with the directions. Mr Monda does not realize that Technical Work is a Job and that time spent must be time paid regardless of the mood (or mood swings) of the person contracting the work. I would also like to state that I would have done the "fresh install" for free to keep Mr. Monda satisfied had he been willing to clarify the final direction for how he wanted things to go.
Mr. Monda neglected to mention that even after he decided not to continue I gave him the template he is now using for free. Along with several components that he also was not charged for. I would have gladly removed them, given him a partial refund and let him purchase all of the listed items with those funds had I not been locked out. Still I think Mr. Monda is a well-meaning person who just doesn't understand how the tech world works and rather than, learn or accept his portion of responsibility for how the project failed (as i have for my portion) he decided to write this "review" and label me a rip-off. Such is simply not the case and my work stands on it's own two feet.
