When my daughter started Jumpstart Learning Center we understood it was a startup bussiness, Kathy Carlos the director of the school explained to us there were not enough kids to have individual classrooms for each level.
She ensured us that within a short time the rest of the students would be starting and they would break the children into there respective classrooms.we explained to her that it was important to us for our daughter to receive an advance education and not just preschool babysitting.
throuout the beginning of her time there the school was understaffed with teacher s not showing up,showing up late, and not providing lesson plans, when we brought it to there attention they made an attempt to provide us with a daily summery of her school day (meals/interactions) soon after there was a staffing change and the classrooms were re-assinged at this time our daughter finally started ti receive a decent education. Class is scheduled to begin at 8 am and ends at 12 noon when we would take our daughter atto report to class at 8 am the classroom would be empty, lights would be off and all the students would be in the smaller toddler class (with ages 1-2) with only 1 teacher watching all the children.

we on many ocassions asked what the issue was if the schedule was changed and we were not informed to wich they replied "oh the teacher is just running late" the main issue with the school is when they re-assinged the classrooms our daughter eas left behind with the 2-3 year old pre-school when our daughter belonged with pre-k (4-5 year olds).we would repeatedly ask if everything was ok since she was taller than all the kids in her classroom the directors assitent assured us as well as the teacher she was in the right classroom.
even though we had brought to there attention that she was starting kintergarden in a public school the following september.when it was finally established that she was in the wrong class level we heard nothing but appoligies and excuses for there mistake but they still insist that our child was properly educated where still till this day working with them for a solution in wich the owner has still not gotten involved.unfotunately it is now 4 wks before the end of the school year and my daughter is forced to cram 10 months worth of education.

Whether or not your daughter was in the right class grade or not she was in good hands.  My mom was her teacher, and my mom has got to be by far one of the greatest pre-school teachers.  Ms. Martha has always been teaching her kids above and beyond, teaching them how to sing, dance, learn their abc's, count from 1-100, recognize numbers from 1-50, count objects up to 25, cutting, coloring, writing their names, both first and last, and simple math. At such a yound age it seems impossible to learn so much, but all that is necessary is time and patience.  Regardless of the issue happening with the office, she learned alot.  I know what my mother is doing for her students, not just trying to make money, I have seen her teach, she was even an afterschool daycare teacher, where she took care of students from two years old, to students in the 7th grade, I was a student of hers.  Both she and I know education is the only way of survival in today's world.  I, her son, have a 3.94 GPA, in the top 4% of my graduating class, have automatic guaranteed admission into a UC,and have been in honor roll since 7th grade, and will have obtained 30 extra credits when I graduate my senior year(class of 2010).  She is the reason why I have been able to succeed and thrive in my class, and she is the reason why she will make her kids thrive and enjoy learning and coming to class as well.

Thank You.

Maximiliano M

Center with Excellent Reputation, tarnished by an individual who did not want to pay their bill

Jumpstart Learning Center has an excellent reputation. We have class schedules posted in every classroom, and this family knew that we serve the children breakfast first, before starting academic instruction. We also provide the parents two progress reports, based on the California Department of Education preschool standards, in which we clearly documented that this child was at or above the standards in all areas. The parents also signed that they were in agreement with their child's abilities.

As this child has moved on to Kindergarten, I am sure that this student had no difficulty. This student was in the appropriate classroom. This family needed to come up with a reason, so they could request back every penny they have ever paid. Can you imagine the audacity, when we supplied so many educational items and fed this student breakfast and lunch. They also wrote to the better business bureau, in which this case was dismissed once they heard our side and reviewed our documentation. We have saved the work of this student, proving that they had all the readiness skills as defined by the California Department of Education. We are expecting a full retraction of this complaint. We consider this slander. For any parent interested in looking at our center, please come and review all of the letters of recommendations that we have !!!
