Unfortunately my husband and I got taken in by Just Dreams when we were in Honolulu for our 25th anniversary. We were approached by a man on the street about listening to the presentation the following morning and in return would receive tickets for a luau and a free city tour. We were assured it was not a timeshare sell. So we headed out early the next morning, met with several other couples and Just Dreams representatives. We were told that it was not a time share but a travel program that utilized unrented timeshares all over the world and that we would receive a license to utilize their website.

I asked if there were beach properties on the East Coast as we are central Pennsylvanians and were assured that there were condos available all over the world for as little as $299-$399 a week, and sometimes less. And of course they emphasized these low-cost deals, even though most properties are much more.

Okay, we were still skeptical, so we asked to see the website so we could see for ourselves what kinds of properties were available. However, they would not show it to us (which should have been a major red flag.). People were buying in to it at 3 weeks for $10,000 and 2 weeks for $7,500 or 1 week for $5,000 with the assurance that you never needed to pay more except for your yearly maintenance fee, which in 2011 was $150. When we were still hesitant, they ramped up the pressure on us and lowered the price for one week to $2,500, so we purchased, figuring using it only two or three times at these "great" prices could at least get us close to a break-even point.

Sadly, that yearly maintenance feel has increased in the last few years to $189 for us. In the four years that we've been paying for this "license" we have used it once to book a one-night stay for a hotel in Pittsburgh that might have saved us $20. There are never any condos available when and where we want to vacation, and there are almost never any condos for $399 or less per week, except for an occasional "last-minute" deal to some off-beat location, and our schedules typically aren't flexible enough to do spur-of-the-moment traveling anyway.

Most condos are $700 to $1,000 (and higher) for a 1 week stay. So what we thought was going to save us money on our vacations, has actually ended up costing us money for a "license" that we can't use. And we're still paying for the "license" but would never, ever, recommend this program to anyone!!! So buyers beware and do your research before you sign anything. If anyone has filed a class action lawsuit/civil lawsuit again Just Dreams, please reply and let me know so I can take part too, because we feel that the sales tactics used were very misleading.
