JVS Landscaping in Westwood, New Jersey applied chemicals on my lawn after I expressly told them not to. After signing the contract with them, we bought a dog. Because we did not want our dog (who stays in the backyard) eating grass that contains chemicals, we informed these landscapers not to use any chemicals. When they came for spring cleanup (unannounced and without any prior notice as usual with this company), I immediately notified the one English-speaking employee not to use any chemicals. He replied that it was just a spring cleanup and they would not be applying any chemicals. When I returned to the house later that morning, there were flags up in our lawn stating to stay off the lawn because chemicals were placed there. When I called up to complain to the owner of the firm, he did not care--he simply said it was called for in the contract and then said we would be charged for the application of the chemicals.
In addition to this event, JVS Landscapers has a very disturbing billing practice. They have called up and left messages on a Friday night saying that if they do not hear back from them by the following morning that our credit card would be billed because they wanted to bill early.
Please do not use JVS Landscapers as there are plenty of other quality landscapers in the area.

We have been in business since 1986. We do everything in writing and follow the standard practice of the contract a client signs up for. We do not do anything unless a client commits in writing.
Prospect called our office in August of 2011 and signed up with a 1yr contract from Aug 11 to Aug. 2012.
SHE agreed to our 7 step lawn application program , Spring, Fall cleanups , lawn mowing services
the start dates are decribed in the contract- the client NEVER indicated or asked please let me know a start up date etc...( another reason we sent out an account update form before the season begins) Copies of this are available to review. She also signed up for credit card billing. Nothing is done verbal for the protection of the client & to schedule the work the client agrees to.
The "boyfriend" of the client whom signed the contract, contacted our office in Jan of 2012 asking if we offered Organic lawn applications. An Organic turf application program was mailed & was sent & they never returned it.
As it is JVS policy to follow up we did they never responded. We as by NJ DEP law sent the client a copy of the 2012 Turf Consumer , they never responded to that as well, however we do have a copy of what we mailed them. If a client communicates to us that their is a work order change we are glad to make any such adjustments.
A letter in Feb of 2012 was sent to the client which is an Account Update for 2012- this is where a client may indicate their needs and anything as a service compnay we can do to better servce our clients. Our company has won several National Awards for our customer service and we have even been featured in numerous trade magazines -WABC-TV,WINS 1010 WINS AM radio for our work we provide.
The client could have simply returned that form indicating exactly any changes that need to their contract, so we may best service them. We called them requesting the forms back- she told my office manager she thought the TURF CONSUMER INFO FORM was a contract- my manger said no its not and it clear states its not a contract.
The boyfriend called my office , yelling at my office manager - I did politely explain that since he did not sign the contract I would need him to fill out the form so we don't apply any products that was signed for by the client his girlfriend. He yelled and sreamed at me saying he is a lawyer and would sue me.
We began our 2012 program with this client on 3.26.12- today is 4.4.12 and she has still not responded to our emails and letter for the applications of synethic vs. Organic, she has not returned any of letter or emails on the matter to this.
As a service provider we value clients business , and I am not sure why someone who did not sign the contract would write this and bare false witness against our firm. We are always fair and equitable to resolve any matters that are within reason.
