K & C RV Trailer ripoff has endless repair problems Colorado Springs Colorado

We purchased a Dutchmen 24 ft 5th Wheel in May 2002. It has been at the dealers service department for most of the summer.

When we started having problems and realized what a bad situation this was we first asked for our money back, which was denied and second we contacted the owner of K & C RV, Ken williamson, to complain.

During our one and only conversation he stated to me that he did not carry Dutchmen or Tahoe brand RV's at his Longmont location because he considered them to be a "piece of junk".

After 3 months of haggling with the manufacturer and the dealer he now denies with his BBB rebuttal that he never said that. This is not true. He did say it. It did not make us very confident about our expensive purchase to say the least.

This unit has been in the shop most of the summer rendering it useless to us. It has still cost us the insurance on the trailer and the truck plus trips back and forth to Colorado Springs which is a 100 mile round trip for us.

The problems this unit had were numerous but it has been in 3 times for the same problem. This does not count the time they spent trying to fix before we could pick it up the first time.

It has a kitchen slide that always gives us some problem all 6-7 nights we have been able to use it.

This should fall under the lemon law, however, in Colorado the lemon law does not cover non-motorized conveyances, i.e. travel trailers, 5th wheels, tent campers, etc.

We have invested a great deal of money in this unit and the truck to pull it. We have not only barely used it but now we can't even sell it due to the problems we have encountered.

We will not lie to any prospertive buyers about the problems it has had and that leaves us pretty much holding the bag.

The people at the dealership and the manufacturing company will not even talk to us anymore. Not to even extend the warranty.

If you are going to buy an RV of any type be very careful. There is no quality control in the industry, see trailerlife.com for more info. Many people are being ripped off by this industry.

Find another way to vacation or change the lemon law in your state.
