Kaplan College Amazed that they can get by with fraud and harassment! Midland, Texas

Upon enrolling into Kaplan, everyone was so nice and helpful. Even financial aide seemed great. They give you a 30 day trial in which you can decided whether or not it is what you are looking for. After those 30 days, that's when the truth comes out!
The staff behave like high school age individuals and nothing at all like adults. There is a chain of command in which you are told you are to follow. When I followed this, I was called out, along with one other student (there were multiple people that followed the chain), in front of the entire classroom. Standing there, I was told how wrong I was and told in one breath that I was starting something by complaining and then in another told that if we had complaints we could take it to the director. That is who I took it to in the first place. She told me that I was a know it all, that I questioned her too much. When asked to define the questioning, she replies that I ask too many questions and therefore I was questioning her and making her look bad in front of the classroom. Then I had to stand there while each student put me down. I did not realize that you could not ask questions. I also was not aware that the school allowed teachers to behave like this. After this incident, no one would speak to me. The staff talked about me continually. All my hard work was thrown out the door, because of this one incident. It didn't matter that I made great grades, came prepared everyday, and had excellent attendance.
Prior to this, if a student confided in a teacher, she would turn and tell it to everyone. Including to classrooms. They would complain about other students to students as well. They would give out information such as grades too. No teacher taught the same thing or the same way. We were told we had to except this and deal with it. It was very confusing and very hazardous in the medical field.
Our safety was not a top priority in one particular classroom. She would make us lay our needles on the table exposed, after using them. This was because there were not enough boxes for needles for the entire classroom. She also had us reuse things that had touched body fluids. This same instructor allowed people to take test over and over until they passed. This is addressed in the handbook which states that you only have one attempt after a failing grade. People stopped studying and would talk through out the test, usually giving answers.
After all this, I completed my extern site. Never once did anyone come to my site as they stated would occur. Other sites were visited, but not mine. I completed everything. Had everything signed off on. This includes from the financial department, stating that I owed nothing and was set to graduate. Wrong! Almost two months later I was contacted stating that I owed over 5,000 dollars and they were holding my transcripts. Their explanation was that my pale grant did not pay due to my error! They told me I had to go onto my fasfa and change my name so they could get their money. (This came from two staff in financial aide) I called the dept of education and eventually got over to someone that deals with fasfa. They stated that they cannot ask me to do this since the deadline to make changes were over. They also stated that it was not an error on my end, it was the school's end. They had my name incorrect as per my SS#. I called the school and explained this to them and was yelled at for calling fasfa. They still wanted me to put and incorrect name that did not match my SS. I told them that was fraud. At that point, I was told that I would then just have to pay them the money and not to expect any release of my records until then. Then was hung up on.
Two weeks later I get a phone call from the billing department from the main Kaplan office. They stated three different amounts that I owed. They call me anywhere from 2 to 8 times a day. Non stop! They then used the work verification process to find out where I worked, stating they have to report to the workforce commission that I am employeed. They called my work multiple times after telling them they cannot call me there. On March 14th, my account was then sent over to collections. Trying to resolve this with them has been so much easier. They informed me that Kaplan should no longer be contacting me. This has not been the case. They still call me daily! When I call back, the staff is rude. Billing takes my info and then hangs up on me before I can say anything to them or ask them to stop calling me. I have called over and over again and no one will help me. This has been nothing but a nightmare! I will never deal with them and suggest no one else does either. They are a rip off! They harass you and do not live up to what they promise!
