Kaplan University Everything they told me was a lie! No one knows whats ever going on! Fort Lauderdale Florida

I enrolled at Kaplan University back in July of 2008 for the Advanced Start in Software Development. Somewhat threw my classes I decided that it wasn't the major for me and wanted to withdraw and start in the next term. My academic advisor of course did not want me to withdraw however told me that if I did there would be no out of pocket expense and I could start next term. I withdrew and of course, they slapped me with a $3000+ amount that needed to be paid.

At first they told me that my loans did not come threw and that is why I needed to pay the full amount of the classes. Later they told me that some money came threw and that I owed them a little over $1000. I got the money together and signed a promissory note to pay $500.00 upfront and the rest would be paid in the following months.

After that was finished. It took then from August 2008 to around the end of October to finally finalize my paperwork. Everyday there was a new story about stuff that they could not find or files that all of a sudden were missing. I finally started classes in the November term and after a couple of weeks I was getting phone calls from them everyday that I owed money, funny thing is everyday was a different amount, sometimes $80 dollars sometimes $3000 dollars. Whats strange is the $500.00 that I paid them isn't even mentioned anymore and apparently I do not owe them what I signed the promissory note for anymore.

On top of this, they also claimed that I owed so much money because my credits for my Associates degree never came in, which doesn't make sense because being in the advanced start you have to, have an Associates or higher when you begin!

Now that the term is coming to a close(Jan. 20th) Everything seems OK and they are just trying to get me to enroll for my next classes. Which of course I will not be doing. It is only ok now because they want more money but just like someone else mentioned right before graduation they slapped him/her down with an amount they said needed to be paid in order for them to graduate.

They wont be getting me, I am done with this school I will finish out this term and I am closing all ties with them, unfortunately I have loans that will need to be paid, but its a lesson learned. Be very careful when dealing with this school.
