Karen Van Beyer Child Custody Report is inconclusive words and phrases used are incorrect to benefit my ex Metaire, Louisiana

I recently had an evaluation done by van Beyer and have the exact same complaints as you do.

I am a father of a 3 year old and was attempting to gain 50/50 custody.  instead 2 days were taken from me, because of her attachment my daughter has to her mother, yet van Beyer wants me to have a positive relationship with my daughter so that we can grow closer.  How is that possible when you take her away from me and I never knew I wasn't close to my child.

I knew going into this that I had a 50/50 shot and I was willing to take it and accept defeat after a fair and unbiased evaluation was completed.  however I received an evaluation full of typos, misquotes and information was left out completely.  She put words in my mouth and could not even get my daughter's name correct (misspelled it 3 times in one paragraph).

I am a police officer and I know the importance of report writing.  If I leave information out of a report the media and the public want my head because I'm a dirty cop.  She turns in an evaluation like she did and gets paid for it.

I'm not bitter that I lost the hearing.  I will make the best of the time I have with my child.  I am however disgusted with the system and the fact that they continue to let someone as incompetent as van Beyer continue to ruin peoples lives.  She may have been respected........  25 years ago, but she needs to be held accountable for her actions.  I know I am in my career!!

Van Beyer is horrible. She's biased and unfair. I believe she's in cahoots with these judges, who repeatedly appoint her to do custody evaluations. Her associate, Diane Huber is incompetent, as well. She completely twisted everything I told her, and everything my children told her.

She ignored photographic evidence of bruises on my son that were administered by his father. Said I had "no proof" that the father did it, even after my son told her, and that he feared for his life when he was with his father. My son was fourteen years old, and she would not listen to him!

She will rot in h**l, I hope.

Hello mamabear, Opposing to the public perception of the truth in many cases may hurt. However, this is not the case; you cannot judge an individual by mainly a simple written text.  Ms. mamabear do you have any evidence based on my case to suggest that I or we NEED to seek help an areas you have no idea of?  Must I continue! This individual that you speak of IS NOT professional at any level.  KAREN VAN BEYER legally and clearly did not follow the guidelines. Confidential information provided to her communicated to the disagreeing party.  Did this particular social worker complete a home visit? In addition, her  recommendations that are legally unworkable, which fail to consider the lives and welfare of families as a whole, which burden rather than enhance family functioning, which worsen rather than ease parental conflict, and did not complete evidence only based on personal preconceived notion or schema. Let me ask you a question...how is it people such as Karen Van Beyer have the right to make a decision based on hearsay and not on facts?

Legally this is incorrect not following guidelines.  Karen of one "medically-oriented" evaluator has an inch of space for us as parents to respond to a compound of questions. For instance  how often as a couple did we disagreed with each other, what the nature of the disagreements were, how we resolved arguments in the marriage, and whether any arguments resulted in domestic violence PERIOD ( questions about compulsion and control, domestic violence, financial issues, or even the reason for the marital demise should have been mentioned). Again, not following guidelines. The outcome that I was seeking out of the lucrative appointments with Karen Van Beyer was to convey the truth and thoroughly complete an accurate evaluation. A degree in some field of mental health does not qualify Karen Van Beyer to perform work that consists of recommending, or decision-making about other persons' families and children. What originally commenced, as a good idea for the judge of narrowing tasks designed to streamline fact-finding and to protect individuals' therapy records now been flourished into a chaotic situation.

 Karen Van Beyer as a Mental Health Professionals  involves herself in the family court system at enormous cost and damage parties with unreliable evidence for all ended as to be vested in protecting herself, and her paychecks, as the first priority (contrary to the traditional definition of a "professional").  Karen Van Beyer lacks in even a simple understanding of the present, self-importance as having a broad authority and expertise, compiling ideas at a "level of expertise". This resulted in my dispute based on Karen Van Beyer cherry-picked evaluation. After gathering information not by rote procedure, hit-or-miss, and at random, pertinent to my case; I discovered, collected facts, and have convincing evidence.  I do not make decisions based on secret evidence or act as an undercover agent or under a disguise of expertise or any other pretext in the United States of America you may want to use. I operate solely from facts. Do your research mamabear before you judge a person. In short, neither YOU nor KAREN VAN BEYER are PHYSCOLOGIST.  We should not judge people by their peak of excellence; but by the distance they have traveled from the point where they started. Very disappointing to read the horrible allegations some people have written about Dr. Karen Van Beyer.  Some have called her a "mommy hater"----If that is the case, then why did she not hate me, a Mommy????

It appears to me that some have chosen to write ugly things about Dr. Van Beyer to retaliate for things not "going their way".  Sadly, the party that doesn't get their way, most often retaliates by personally attacking a professional or the Ex.  Instead of recognizing that they have problems, they live shifting the blame and refuse to seek professional help to make matters better.

Dr. Karen Van Beyer is highly respected by the Courts and by ME.  She is extremely smart and she would NEVER jeopardize her license by writing false reports. 

My suggestion to you people is to move forward and stop blaming others for your problems and spending time dreaming of ways to try to hurt Dr. Karen Van Beyer's reputation. 

Do the best you can to document any discrepancies or anything else you think may be getting "Overlooked". Line up witnesses to back the discrepancies you have noted.

I had a friend who had similar problems along time ago. She still got custody but it took bringing up witness after witness to discredit the evaluator.

The evaluators are of course human. They tend to be subjective even though they are not supposed to be. My friend had a heck of a time because her ex and his current girlfriend made it a point to have the evaluator come by around dinner time and made a point to invite the person to share dinner and of course to discuss the child and where he would be better off.
