On June 17, 2013 I had my car towed to Ken Baker Originals in Myrtle Beach, SC. My car would start then die after about 10 seconds. Darrell (service manager?) informed us it would be a few day before they could get to the car. We asked if they had a loaner car but was told they were all being used at the time.

We rented a car until they were able to offer us one of their loaners. On Wednesday June 19th they told us it was the fuel filter ($250) so we told them to go ahead with the service. On Thursday they told us it wasn't the fuel filter it was the fuel pump ($700). Again we told them to go ahead with the service. At that time we asked if a loaner car had become available to which they said they would call us back, they never did so we called before closing. Darrell told us they wouldn't be able to complete the work because a mechanic cut his hand and they did not have a loaner car for us.. [continued below]....


On Friday I called and wanted to move my car to a different mechanic. Darrell told me he would call me back when the car was put back together. Darrell called me back hours later to tell me they finally diagnosed the problem and that it was a fuel module which only cost $105 and they had a loaner car avilable. He told me that a mechanic had a death in the family so that's why he didn't call back sooner. He also informed me that the fuel module was a special order part and they wouldn't receive it until Thursday of the following week. I was annoyed but then considered the cost for towing it to another mechanic and possible labor and parts at the other location so I told him to order the part.

I showed up to pick up my loaner at 4:45pm and it was completely falling apart. All the check engine lights were on, door handle fell off, no gas whatsoever, interior was ripped to shreds, and the smell was terrible. I had no choice but to take the car since they were closed over the weekend and we had returned our rental. We did not drive the car at all and ended up renting another car on Saturday.

On Monday I called and ask for my car to be put back together and I wanted to take it back. I asked if they were willing to discount the parts that were unnecessarly put in the car or help with car rental fees. They refused to budge on the price and wouldn't release my car until we paid in full, even for the special order part that they claimed was nonreturnable and they hadn't even received or replaced. We paid hesitantly.

When confronted with the issues Cal (the owner) made mulitple threats, called us names, and continues to harass us. We have the emails, audio, and videos to prove all of our claims. I have no problem showing them to anyone who wants to see them.

In the end a $100 part is costing us thousands of dollars. This place should not be allowed to operate and I highly warn everyone not to use them.
