A price had been negotiated with the sales manager for a specific car and he had printed out the VIN and price. At the final step of payment with cash in hand, a different automobile was pulled up and substituted for the one that the price had been negotiated for. The sales manager shredded the original printout and said that he could not sell me the car originally negotiated for at the negotiated price. He tried to say he thought it was a different car but had to concede that he had put the correct VIN on the first printout and then shredded the document. When I accused him of bait and switch, he didn't even argue the point; he just stated that his dealership had a good reputation. I had another adult with me who witnessed the entire transaction over a period of 8 hours. If we had not caught them in the act of bringing the different car around, it is possible they would have been successful in their switch.
