On 3/24/07 I went to Kevil Chevrolet in Budd Lake just to look at cars. My credit is just starting to get better, and when I ended up getting approved for a car loan, I was very excited - mind you at 14% interest, but I still got the loan.

The salesman showed me a 2007 Chevy Impala SS, and the sticker said $29,900 "Total Vehicle Price". No where on the vehicle did it say that it was a Dealer Demo and had 5,300 miles on it. I didn't find out about the 5,300 miles on it till after I signed the financial papers, and I signed the odometer miles form.

Additionally, after my busy 55 hour week, I sat down yesterday and looked at the sales receipt. Yes, I know I should have done so sooner, I know I should have really scrutinized the receipt when I signed for it, but everything happened so quickly, and I was very excited about the car, as well as getting the loan, and I was totally taken advantage of.

I'm attaching the car receipt, and the car sticker. If you notice, the total car price on the receipt says $31,400, while the car sticker says $29,900 - they overcharged me $1,500 more. When I called them up yesterday, and went to the dealer, and pointed it out the Sales Manager, his first comment was that it was true - two different totals. His second comment was that it was a premium vehicle charge of $1,500 for Super Sport models. However, no one told me of a $1,500 premium vehicle charge either. I called up other Chevy dealers, and they say there is no such thing.

So not only was I charged $1,500 over the sticker price, I was told this was a brand new vehicle and not told about the 5,300 miles and it being a dealer demo. Unfortunately, dealer demo's aren't considered used. I admit I have some blame in not scrutinizing and being excited, but feel I was totally taken advantage of being a single woman walking into a car dealer.

Having issues at Kevil also

AUTHOR: Rich - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, December 19, 2007

I purchased a 2002 Impala at Kevil. I am happy with my car but I am still dealing with issues.

When I purchased the car I told them what I was willing to pay for that car, "Bob" agreed and I even signed the paper we were doing numbers on.

After waiting for over an hour to get paper work done, charging my credit card for the down payment and arranging insurance I sit down to sign paper work. They pushed real hard to have me sign each page with brief descriptions of each. My mind could not make the math work and I told him I would not sign until I was comfortable with the math.

That is when I figured out they were over charging me $2,000. Bob tried to tell me that is what we agreed on but I was lucky my sales guy was new and put everything in a folder, including the paper I signed with my agreed price.

Paper work was fixed but I will admit I missed the other $2,000 for dealer added features that they tacked to the price without telling me. This was a used car people, what did they add?

I also paid $2,000 for an extended warrenty.

After driving the car to NY and back I noticed she did not shift well. I took her to Saturn (I should have gone there not Kevil) and they found an error code for the transmission. I took her back to Kevil and they confirmed there was an issue, but, they didn't want to fix it that day because of the "30 day waiting periond" for the warrenty. Since this was not a big issue I agreed to return after the 30 days for them to fix it.

Well, life happens and 45 days later I called to confirm my warrenty was in effect and not only was I told there is no 30 day waiting period by the warrenty company but they told me there was no contract for my car.

Long story I know, I will end it by saying I called Kevil and made a stink, they fixed my transmission + a broken link to the sway bar for the $50 co-pay but have yet to submit my contract and payment to the warrenty company.

I have all my documents in order and they have until the end of December 2007 to fix this or my lawyer will be happy to resolve this.

Read and understand everything before you sign. Even then you might not get the deal you thought you were getting. Car sales people have a reputation for confusing people for a good reason, that is what they do.

Kevil Chevrolet

No, I didn't open the door, or look inside, I didn't see any clear sign indicating dealer demo, and I thought all new Chevy's had the 100,000 mile/5 year warranty, so I didn't think anything of the sticker on the vehicle.

I thought it was a brand new car, and I guess I was just too excited with getting approved for the loan and getting a new car to see past the whole scam.

I know I have part to blame in this whole deal; however, I still believe I should have been discounted for a dealer demo and the dealer should have indicated an additional charge on the sticker of the vehicle.

Premium vehicle....

AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 03, 2007

I could be wrong but I have read that there is a tax for "performance vehicles" due to the amount of fuel they will consume based on being "performance vehicles".

I believe I read about it on a Dodge forum in reference to the Charger and soon to be released Challenger.

The reason I say this is that the $1500 surcharge- what it really is-rang a bell about it.

Though I agree that it should be included in the sticker and I think has to be.

Comparison Shop

AUTHOR: Karl - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 03, 2007

When you open the door of a 2006 or 2007 Impala the odometer shows the mileage. Did you even open the door of the car or take a test drive? The price was ridiculous. Did you comparison shop? There is no mark up for an SS Impala.

There aren't huge discounts anymore because the dealer only has a couple of thousand dollars if that to play with but there was no reason why you couldn't have bought the car for at least a couple of hundred dollars over invoice less $500 or so for the mileage.

When you buy an untitled car with 5,000 miles on it the dealer should increase the 3/36 warranty by that amount of mileage. Your purchase at more than list of a demo with more than 5,000 miles on it was not the dealer's fault. I would have walkedas soon as I saw the mileage and heard the price. There are lots of SS's and Chevy dealers.
