I have a 2004 Kia Rio that the Motor just stoped running one day we have taken the Vehicle to Bob Dance Kia in Melborune and as many other folks have found the timing belt has striiped its teeth , we have taken this vehicle in for regular oil and service to a local ASE certifed mechanic at walmart supercenter for regular oils changes and service and have nmaintained the car well. When the car was sold to us at no time did the Dealer in West Palm Beach tell us that we needed to change the timing belt at 40,000 miles as a matter of fact the harped on the depenadabilty of the car an 100,000 mile warranty they did not point out the Fine print in the owners manual about this issue and as I read all of the complaints I belive they Know that there timing belts are grabage .It is not unusual to expect to get 100,000 miles out of a timimg belt I have owned many cars where I have gotten that many miles and more. A part as criticle as this should have been warrantied with the rest of the motor and Drive train especially since its failure can cause such critical damage to all the other components in the car Kia knows that this is an issue with their automobile and continues to ignore all of the complaints about these failures Bob Dance KIA quoted me 6,000 dollars for a brand new motor and then would only warranty that motor for 12,000 miles what the Hello is wrong with these people Shame on Kia Motors and shame on Bob Dance Kia that sells the product and continues to rip people off RUN form KIA products that is my advise

They Never Tell You The Important stuff

AUTHOR: Williamkreth - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, September 29, 2008

i had that happen to me with an 02 kia rio, just got to be careful and read all the maintenance stuff on all cars you buy. because alot of newer cars timing belts don't last as long. (back in the day they used chains, those basically lasted forever)

also it does state in your warranty information that you must maintain and record all your maintenance records for them to fix anything under the warranty.

rubber belt diffrent conditions nuff said

AUTHOR: P Coy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, September 18, 2008

the timing belt is made of rubber and poly thread diffrent factors contribute to its failure, tempature, humidity, constructon (ie some rubber is softer than others), how the car is driven(grandma might just get 300k out of hers) I am a wrecker driver and have seen many belts break on various cars at various milages, the only way you can prevent failure is to have it checked often and replaced within manuf. guidelines. Note this is just a guideline because every car is driven diffrent and in diffrent climates ie if you live in an area that your tires dry rot every three weeks you should probably replace that rubber belt made from the same material also.
Vry rarely timing belts go out due to mechanical problems such as tensioner and idler pulleys. but the most common failure is no manitence of the belt. When a belt does break on some motors the valves bend due to interfernce with piston, a motor can usually be checked for this with a compression test. If the tset is bad then you tear down the motor and assess the damage and repair accordingly. note mst of the time this requires a head job to repair bent valves but rarely requires motor replacement due to piston damage. hope this will help everyone out there.
PS. have been driving cars with timing belts for years and have never had one that nad been changed within manu. intervals fail.

POSTED: Thursday, September 18, 2008

I see where you are going here. If it's under warranty in CA, it should be throughout the rest of the states.

Okay, but chances are they may use a higher quality belt in the CA cars. Yes, they will build a car differently for CA.

Why? Because CA requires it. Some manufacturers will build their cars under CA standards for everyone. Others will just build for CA. It depends on the manufacturer, really.

Honda has a new hydrogen fuel cell car. But guess what? It's only available in CA. Ripoff?

Customer's fail to read there owners manuel

AUTHOR: Car Advisor - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 17, 2008

I work for a kia dealer and have seen these concerns time and time again. The failure is on the consumers part who fail to read there owners manuel! It states specifically that timing belt should be inspected at 60k and replaced if needed. On the Rio the belts dont last as long so 99% of the time it is recommended after inspection. The problem is, customer do not read there manuels, or miss read it and never get it inspected. Some customers have told me they read it and it says to only be inspected at 60k and replaced at 105k. But NO, it says to inspect at 60k and 90k and replace if needed, but if not to for sure replace by 105k. And from there it go's on to say that it is not required at 60k but still recommended. Some consumers have selective reading habits that tend to make them look like the victim, when all in all 90% of people do not read the manuel for the vehicle that they so despratly reley on. And as far as the statment that a new motor would only be warrantied for 12k...almost all car companies only warranty on replacment parts for 12 months or 12,000 miles weather its a bulb or a motor, not just Kia...all in all people who go to the dealer for service never have these problems because they are advised well in advance, but the customers who get oil changes at "Quick Lube" shops like walmart and Jiffy Lube are having none qualified techs who do not know there car working on them, hence they are not advising them of needed maintance. When a customer is faced with a $5,000-$6,000 dollor bill it becomes easy to blame the company and the warranty rather than take credit for it them selfs and relize they failed to up hold there end of the waaranty and perform needed maintance. Same problem of people that never get there transmission service and then wonder why there warranty wont cover it when it blows up at 80,000 miles. All in all if it was a conspericy againt the customer then theres no way KIA would get away with it, all warranties are stated and customer just fail to read them or asume that there last cars warranty worked this way so this one must also. Time to stop blaming others and take responsibility!!

Ken, you obviously are paying the price for not servicing your vehicle correctly. There is no way any court or jury in this land will find them at fault. You did not maintain your Kia per the manufactures recommendations If you still want to pursue this why don't you contact troubleshooter Tom Martino? His website is http://troubleshooter.com he is a nationwide consumer advocate and is on the rado in most major markets. He has many experts on staff and will be able to tell you if you have a leg to stand on. They will even contact KIA and fight for you. This is a much better path then you creating a poorly written complaint. Good luck!

Vince you do not know what you are tialking about you are probably a friend of that other dope The timing belt is warrantied in the same car same part number in California and the attorney General amd BBB has already agreed which is why Kia has to warranty the belt In california we in Florida just need to follow a few simple steps and they will have to here as well Might I suggest you check your facts before posting so as not to look so stupid when you do post.

Who told you I did not mainatain my car and who told you I did not follow warranty guidelines that is the fact I did follow the warranty guidlines and the belt broke before any
reasonable mileage to expect a belt to last. I am a mechanic now so try not argue with me I know what I am talking about maybe you should stick to potted plants sounds like you may be smoking some Things are already rolling here as far as getting me paid for my troubles so don't worry I will let you know when I get the check

Regardless of what anyone says here

AUTHOR: Vince - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, May 26, 2008

This guy will not get a dime from Kia, and no suit will ever be allowed to go forward based on the facts provided in the warranty contract that states a certain mileage requirement for service. Regardless of how other cars perform, HIS car had certain requirements that were not followed, and he can blow steam as long as he wants, but he's not going to get anywhere with it, no matter how right he thinks he is.

Timing belts break. Some manufacturers earlier than others. Don't maintain it per the warranty manual (NOT google), then you pay the cost of repairs. Simple.

The BBB, Attorney General, and any small claims court in the US will certainly agree with the warranty contract.

Ken, any word yet?

AUTHOR: Cat - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, May 03, 2008

Ken, any word from the Kia dealership yet? You can see why one would stay away from Kia by now. They sell junk, their cars do not last, and they do not want to honor their warranties.

When we were looking for a car back when we got our Equinox in '06 we checked them out. I can not move my knees well as I have degenerative Rhemotoid Arthritis. I tried several models of SUV's and none moved far back enough. That did not stop the salesman from trying to sell me a new one , however! lol He kept lowering the price and of course we walked. This year they are sooooooo desperate( they could be running a national ad I do not know) that they are offeirng a new car if you buy one. Lord, can not sell them nor can they give them away! lol That is sad!

Keep us informed. I for one will be interested if they EVER step UP to the plate!

You are a very misinformed individual.

Your warranty was not honored because you failed to do the required maintenance, why do you insist on rubbing your irresponsibility and negligence for your vehicle off on us? It's not our fault that you can't follow simple warranty guidelines.

Timing belts are made to last for 60 - 80K miles, if you're lucky then 90 - 100K, but you will not be seeing many tree's or houses passing after that.

A timing chain will last you pretty much the whole life of the car (I know, I have a 1994 Dodge Intrepid) - I am pushing over 210 thousand miles with one transmission replacement (a junk yard transmission). Timing chains are located near the camshaft and will normally last the life of the car.

Timing gears will pretty much do you the same as a timing chain.

Why come on here making all these false claims that KIA does not honor their warranty when you VOIDED the warranty by not following the required guidelines of the warranty? I've seen some idiots in my days, but this is just absolutely ridiculous. You bring shame to all drivers and internet browsers. You should truly be ashamed of yourself.

Keep us informed. I must admit I became interested because of the fact that I used to live In Cocoa and workied in Melbourne. That being said you are learning the hard way that Kia is CRAP! They are cheaply made, the employees lie out of their mouths and their warranties are not worth the paper they are typed on. I have kleenex that is worth more!

Keep us updated as I for one hope you get some resolved here. Some of us actually do get service on our warranty. I have a 2006 tChevy Equinox that we bought brand new. I have over 100k miles on it at this point and our extended warranty paid on everything that was repaired, which I might add was not all that much. The point is we never had to pay for it, argue for it or fight for it. We know we put alot of miles on our car, so the warranty was mandatory for us.

Good luck!

KIA YOU OWE ME A CAR PAY UP

AUTHOR: Ken From Melbourne - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 15, 2008

Here is another KIA ripoff this why the timing belts break their Teeth off

problem, that is, the engine siezed and Kia refuses to replace it as it was due to the 'worn timing belt'/it was not a 'Kia technition' who diagnosed the problem.(take your pick, they are both excuses I've been offered by Kia.).

I can not say for certain that your timing belt was not worn, but, in my case that was NOT the cause of my engine siezing (although most mechanics would have made that diagnosis) I have been blessed with a honest, reasonably priced mechanic that does not beleive in 'first appearances'.

When my engine siezed, I was less than 1/2 mile from his shop so I had the car towes there instead of the Kia dealership. I did not know what the problem was at that time and I certainly wasn't going to pay Kia's exagerated prices if it was not a warranty covered repair. Thank God I did because I otherwise would have trusted their diagnosis and would have been out $3000.00+.

To make a long story short, (too late) 'my' mechanic noticed that the timing belt was niether worn, nor broken; but rather a section of 'teeth' had been stripped away, causing it to 'slip' and the motor to sieze. He figured that this would be caused by a repetitive 'jerking' action on the belt, not by improper or inadequate maintenance.

It took little investigation for him to find that the... (forgive me if I do not phrase this 100% correctly - I am not a mechanic!) ...pin in the keyway was loose. He informed me that there is/was nothing that I could do or not do to create this problem - it had to be this way when it 'rolled off the line'. That means, you guessed it, MANUFACTURERS DEFECT!

I guess (by his explanation) that every time I stepped on the gas, rather than a 'smooth' exceleration, it would 'chunk' itself into motion...thus the 'jerk' on the timing belt, and the stripped 'teeth', and the siezed motor. Covered by Warranty! (No, not covered because as you can tell when you research these pieces of 'kiarap' Kia Motors refuses to cover anything that goes wrong with them as often as they can get away with it.)

If you still have the old motor/timing belt, have a QUALIFIED mechanic have a look at it and see if yours to could fall into this more reasonable {and likely} explanation. Maybe Kia DOES owe you a new car to{ or at least reimbursement for the cost of repairs}

Good luck - Kia Lies

So timing belts don't last to 100,000 miles only In California ? KIA I WANT MY MONEY and WARRANTY NOW

So timing belts don't last to 100,000 miles only In California ?

My KIA RIO has the same part number belt as the california models as well and in California its warrantied to 100,000 miles but not Florida.
I guess California has a diffent space/time continuum going I wonder that myself
Robert unfortunatley we have some mechanics that think its unreasonable to ask that type of mileage from a belt of the same part number in a diffrent state other than California , oh and good comment on since they appear to be having a problem you think ? maybe they would own up to it and if they want to sell cars here in the USA they would fix the issue instead of screw their customers send them packing I say they should have to pay 20 times the normal tarriff tax on all that junk they bring here they only do it because they have no room on Korea in the land fills which is where they all end up at 60,000 miles anyhow

Here's the tricky part
On California models, the Sportage is supposed to have it's timing belt inspected at 60K and 90K miles. It gets replaced at 105K miles. All other states, the belt is replaced at 60K miles. What gives? According to my NAPA program, it's the same belt number. I guess California has a diffent space/time continuum going.

I would suggest replacing them at 60K in all states, since they appear to be having a problem.

John Your ignorance precedes you ,you continue to stick your nose in my business as if it were your vendeatta I am sorry you failed at being a mechanic it is mechanics like you that make consumers beware and this forum is for legitamate complaints you are sorely mistaken about the mileage on my car I am not an idiot I would not complain if it had the mileage you say this issue is between me and Kia and its piss poor service at its Dealerships like Bob Dance Kia on Merritt Island Florida, and KIA'S deception of the consumer by telling them that a car is warrantied when it is not and giving seperate consideration for a warranty to other people in the USA based on the state in which they live even if they have not serviced their car regularly, and not warranting when the car has been serviced and inspected regularly, All I can say is I am sorry you failed at bieng a mechanic but you had alot stacked against you take a look at your comments and the time you spend here you should be spending it fixing cars and trying to repair your repautation
you lack or regard for the consuming public is what put you out of business the customer is always right you can think what you want but you cannot ever tell the customer he is wrong the word of mouth is a powerful tool one unhappy customer can cost a business billions of dollars on the average he tells 10 people he knows who then in turn tell 10 who then inturn tell 10 the affect is exponentinal to the enth degree I do agree that in some cases customers are wrong but you can NEVER EVER DISRESPECT THEM LAUGH AT THEM REFUSE TO ANSWER THEIR QUESTIONS OR CALL THEM NAMES AND MOST TIMES IF YOU MAKE THE ATTEMPT TO HELP THEM THEY WILL BE SATISFIED all of these principles which KIA has not applied to this case what so ever and by your comments and the ending result by your own admission you never applied which is why you are NOT a MECHANIC that is worthy of working with the public, enough said you will always be wrong as will KIA when it comes to customer service if you maintain you attitudes and ideas as they have about the consumer!!!!!!!

I had to deal with people like you all day, every day. You want CHEAP, then think it equals GOOD. When it doesn't, you whine.

Then there's your complaint. You refuse to maintain your car according to what the manufacturer requires, then complain when the product fails...long after the scheduled replacement passed by.

I'm guessing(since you refuse to post the actual mileage) the Rio(CHEAPest car made) is well over 100K miles. It's out of any warranty at all, and since you think the belt should last forever, KIA should compensate you.

You're a true winner.

THIS IS THE ISSUE

The maintenance recommendation for the timing belt is four years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. >>If the car is registered anywhere other than California,
FOR ALL OTHERS KIA HAS A DIFFRENT STANDARD WHY ? A TIMING BELT IS A TIMING BELT IS A TIMING BELT AND THE ONLY REASON THEY WOULD HAVE A DIFFRENT STANDARD IS

1. THEY GOT TAKEN TO COURT AND LOST 2. THEY PUT A BETTER BELT ON CALIFORNIA CARS ?
THEN THEY SAY THIS FOR THE REST OF NON-CALIFORNIA KIA OWNERS

The timing belt will be your responsibility since you've already exceeded the maintenance interval.

ACTUALLY THE MANUAL SAYS TO INSPECT AT 60,000 REPLACE AT 100,000

It *is* covered by the 10 year/100,000 mile warranty as long as it's replaced at the proper interval.

NOW WE HAVE AN EXCLUSION FOR CALIFORNIA

The California exclusion has to do with a legal technicality. If the vehicle is registered in California, the timing belt is covered for 10 years/100,000 miles regardless of whether you've serviced it.

WHY DOES KIA WARRANTY THE BELT TO 100,000 MILES IN CALIFORNIA AND NOT OTHER STATES THE BELT IS NO DIFFRENT IN FLORIDA ,NEW YORK OR TIMBUCKTOO THAN IT IS IN CALIFORNIA

That, and stricter emission standards. In some cases, the required replacement interval for the timing belt is 1/2 the mileage of the other states. In others, it's almost double. It depends on the vehicle itself.

What does this have to do with how long a timing belt should last

I notice nobody has posted a complaint about their Escort in this site. Why is that?

Wally World does not employ real mechanics. They hire kids to do oil changes and bust tires. In reality, nobody will inspect your timing belt for FREE. It requires removing the covers, and at that point, the only labor left is the actual swapping of the belt itself. At my shop I would simply ask you if it had been done, and if you said "No", I'd give you an estimate for replacement. If you ignored it, then it's on you. This does not absolve you of your responsibility to maintain your vehicle according to the manufacturers schedule. You went to Wally World because they are CHEAP. Show me one case where CHEAP equalled GOOD.

No regular maintenance is covered by any warranty. Not doing it however, will cost you plenty.

They still do california models?
I had no idea. I thought everyone had moved over to where all vehicles met the same standards.

That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, unless the California model is timed differently, but I don't really even see that making a difference.

Or, Robert, should I pull the hook out of my mouth? (Meaning, are you screwing with me?)

If your manual does say that it should be inspected at 60K... That is interesting. From my standpoint, if you can prove to Kia via an invoice that the belt was inspected at that time.. You followed their recommendations and they should honor the warranty.

The fact that it was not inspected by a Kia mechanic shouldn't matter. But I would say it would matter if the mechanic did not hold some automotive certification.

So you think Timing belt should last 100,000 miles google it an see how may do

AUTHOR: Ken From Melbourne - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, April 06, 2008

here is and exerp from a web site at random and believe me there are many more that say the timimg belt should last until the 100,000 mile mark

JUST GOOGLE IT ALL YOU WANNA BE OR THINK YOU ARE SMARTER THAN ME MECHANICS

HERE IS THE LLINK WHERE I GOT THIS INFO OH IT YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW TO GOOGLE open internet explore which i assume you know how since you are reading this then in the little white space type 100,000 mile timimg belt see how many cars out there get 100,000 miles befor replacing it this means you wonder man John

http://www.intellichoice.com/carBuying101/KeepingOldCar

hmmmm Saturn of coarse that can't compare to your all super car the Ford Escort a bud ?

There does come a time when every vehicle is just plain pooped, when it becomes more trouble than it's worth. And when will the typical car or truck reach that point? Not too many years ago, the furthest reach of a vehicle's useful life was 100,000 miles. By then, if the mechanicals weren't worn out, then the body and chassis would be a conglomeration of squeaks, rattles and rust. But not today. Many modern vehicles can breeze right past that 100,000-mile mark with not a great deal more than a tune-up and maybe a new fuel pump or timing chain. And thanks to plastic body panels and factory rust-proofing methods, the tin worm is much less of a pest.

Still, as the miles pile on, repairs become inevitable. Here are some examples of components and the mileages at which they typically need replacement:

Alternator, 125,000 miles
Brake rotors, 80,000 miles
Brake drums, 150,000 miles
Brake calipers, 150,000 miles
Clutch, 75,000 miles
Headlamp, 100,000 miles
Sealed front bearings, 125,000 miles
Shock absorbers, 75,000 miles
Starter, 100,000 miles
Timing belt, 100,000 miles
Timing chain, 100,000 miles
From this list, you can see that major repairs do not typically occur until after the 100,000 mile mark. But after 100,000 miles the repairs that do occur tend to be costly. Moreover, by 150,000 miles, paint and upholstery usually become rather ragged as well. And to top it all off, by 150,000 miles, the components that needed replacement at 75,000 miles may need replacement for a second time. From the perspective of pure economics, it's unwise to trade in a relatively young vehicle because it needs several hundred dollars worth of repairs. But it also may be financially foolish to throw thousands of dollars into a car or truck that's on its last legs.

oh and heres a Honda in case your not feeling well let not use the word foolish

Engine timing belt and accessory belts

OH WOW HERE IS ANOTHER
The 2003 ALH engine is designed for 100,000 mile timing belt system changes.

That said, many times the components give out before that time (happened to me, TornadoRed, and countless others)... so much so that many of the Gurus (whose lead I follow) have gone to a safer 90,000 mile interval as a baseline.

As well, we've heard of quite a few cases of early 2003 engines that still had the old model of the large idler (with the smaller bearing) that was rated at 80,000 miles. Whether your car falls into this category is just about impossible to tell until you take apart the timing belt system (or it gives up...). Often there's a tell-tale sound that starts building up (squeaks and swishes - sometimes only when the engine's cold) as the bearings wear.

The Bentley repair manual goes through periodic revisions... apparently you have an earlier printing...

All the best,

Yuri.

Question
In answer to your question, the engine is surging to higher rpm's. The mechanic says this is due to the belt slipping.

Question -
I OWN A 2001 SONATA 4 CYLINDER SEDAN WITH ABOUT 40,000 MILES. BOUGHT IT NEW. ENGINE STARTED TO ACT UP TODAY. TOOK IT TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO SAYS IT NEEDS TIMING BELT. IS THIS COVERED UNDER THE 100,000 MILE WARRANTY? OR IS THERE MAINTENANCE I SHOULD HAVE PERFORMED?

Answer -
The maintenance recommendation for the timing belt is four years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. If the car is registered anywhere other than California, the timing belt will be your responsibility since you've already exceeded the maintenance interval. It *is* covered by the 10 year/100,000 mile warranty as long as it's replaced at the proper interval.

I believe the California exclusion has something to do with a legal technicality. If the vehicle is registered in California, the timing belt is covered for 10 years/100,000 miles regardless of whether you've serviced it.

Out of curiosity, what's your engine doing? Very rarely does a timing belt cause an engine to run poorly. Typically, it either runs or it doesn't.

WOW 10 YEARS 100,000 MILES FROM THE SAME COMPANY THAT BUILDS KIA

WHO SHOULD SELL THERE TOOLS NOW BUDDY ?

John your comments precede you as one who really has know idea what you are talking about continue as you may to ridicule me its not bothering me in the least you are just showing how really Ignorant you are to what the real issue is and that is the Timing belts are of poor quality 58 pages of complaints on this particular issue and other poor quality issues as well as numerous lawsuits against the manufacturer are the issue here and your statement "Ford Escort timing belts lasted about 60,000 miles. A vehicle far superior to a Kia anything" well that really tells all where you head is at if you really think that a Ford escort is superior to anything I have compassion for you Go ahead continue your bantor it is quite amusing I hope someone laughs at your misfortune someday I am already laughing at you And to the person who thinks that walmart service center or sears for that matter are not a good place to take your Car for service, you really should have kept your mouth closed because their track record and service record is impecable comapared to any Kia dealership or any other dealer ship for that matter not to mention the price being resonable But you too seem to be a person who talks just to hear himself talk or in this case writes to see if you can write
so I suppose AAA is a bad place to take a car to get fixed as well seems they will be able to fix my motor which is another indication on how crappy Kias service is they said it needed a replacemnt at 6,000 dollars oh and both you wizards of mechanicle wonderment tell me why only a 12,000 mile warranty on a brand new motor and why any other shop in town can do the same work for 1/3 the cost and give a mimimum of a 40,000 mile warranty you guys must love Kia or maybe just giving your money away as your hobbies if the later is the case give some to me I sure could use it have fun in your own little minded dimented dilusional way Buy a couple Kias or maybe that high dollar high quality fix or repair daily escort that John likes, John I really doubt you are a mechanic they have medicine for folks who think they are somthing that they really are not you should get that checked out stop into your local Kia dealer he will fix you right up

This is the reason most car manufacturers prefer that you bring your car into them (in addition to more money for the dealership). You see if you had taken your car into the dealership (or any KIA dealership for that matter) for your oil and lube maintenance (instead of Walmart or Sears). The service staff could have given you a proper reminder to have the belt looked at and/or replaced. This would have saved you the trouble of memorizing your maintenance book and/or user manual because they would have stated something to the effect of "Sir you have x amount of miles on your car you should let us look at this for you". You would of course had the opportunity to say Thanks or NO Thanks I will look at it myself or have someone else look at it but thanks for the reminder.

As far as an interest in Kia I have none. I wouldn't have bought one to begin with.

Good luck though.

but I'm not surprised at that being your only viable comeback after being schooled by 2 mechanics on your frivolous complaint.
My intellect is quite higher than yours as proven by my debunking of your ridiculous assertion that a timing belt should somehow last 100,000 miles and beyond. It doesn't matter who the manufacturer is. Ford Escort timing belts lasted about 60,000 miles. A vehicle far superior to a Kia anything.

So here is amother reason consumers should Run from a Kia motors Car dealer ship, as my previous report stated we suffered major engine damage to our Kia as the result of timing Belt Failure, Reagrdless of whether this was the a result of my fault or not, My wife went to pick up the car today as we decided to just lick our wounds and take our car to another repair shop to get it repaired because Bob Dance Kia in melbourne gave us a $6,000 dollar quote for a new motor with only a 12,000 mile warranty after the new motor was replaced which is 3 times more the expense with 1/3 the warranty a local repair shop gave me.

When she went to look at the car and pay them what we owed them for tearing the car apart there service advisor Kenny and the mechanic that worked on the car laughed at her and made fun of the fact that she wanted to see the car and pick it up and take it elsewhere when she requested there names and asked them why they were laughing at her they continued to laugh at her and make fun of the situation Great Customer Service isn't it. I am sure even if you disagree with my original report would agree laughing at a customer is completely wrong.

and are a moron. Timing CHAINS can cetainly last 100,000 miles yet timing BELTS are on borrowed time from about 50,000 miles. Regular maintenance items are not warranty. You neglected to perform the required maintenance so you lose. And sell your tools. They apprently the biggest waste of money in your lifetime as you couldn't have held a mechanics job all that long regardless of what you say to try and look intelligent.

Inside the glove box is a plastic folder. inside this folder is an owner's manual, and a warranty guide. The owner's manual tells you when the maintenance should be done to avoid warranty problems. the warranty guide explains what is and is not covered by the warranty. If you had read either one, you would not be complaining about needing another engine.

Very few engines can go past 90K miles without replacing the timing belt, and still be under any type of warranty. Most require them to be replaced at 40K-90K mile intervals. This is not a warranty replacement either. It is considered "maintenance", and is the owner's responsibility.
